I think the American marketing & executive management are more of a concern here than factory management.

My 2000 Tundra has been an excellent vehicle. We replaced the serpentine belt several years ago & I will be getting the timing belt replaced due to age before it fails. Other than regular maintenance items, I have had no issues. I did suffer from the oxygen sensors but the truck was not included on the recall. no rust issues. The only other recall, shortly after I bought it, was to replace the oil dipstick. They mailed me a new one because some original ones were too short.

Some people say so. Most of the complaints I have seen likely relate to upper management decisions on included features. Many people do not like the heavy steel hood & prop in comparison with the struts & aluminum hood of prior years, especially since Japan made Camry has the struts,

So no on a measurable difference. It has been a long running trend that Japan made cars have less problems than their US made counter parts. There doesn't seem to be any evidence to back that up.

This is not a quality, as in quality control, issue. A different hood isn't going to lead to more problems. It may feel like lower quality in another sense, but Japan and the US are two different markets. In Japan, cars of the size are more upscale, and shows in the price. Looks like the Camry there runs about $2000 more than here. Add that to the US Camry, and people will go to Honda and Hyundai for the ICE option.

You may disagree with the US management decisions, but that doesn't mean they are wrong

PS: Toyota USA is the reason why the gen4 Prime didn't have a battery the size of the PiP's.

Muy US produced 2000 Tundra and Canadian produced 2008 Corolla both have been extremely reliable vehicles,

Although the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid kept it's number 1 spot for 2025 sales, for the month of December, the Camry Hybrid with the 2025 MY being all hybrid actually beat the RAV4 Hybrid by 26,789 to 20,612. 2025 sales lists for the Camry will list only Camry and not Camry Hybrid.

The one thing that bugs me about Toyota sales reports (PDF chart download) is they list Sienna sales with the Total Pickup sales. o_O On their newsroom website, they list the Sienna with the cars.. Not sure why the discrepancy. Just a little tidbit of info here.

Only 4618 Prius Prime sold worldwide?
No wonder I've never seen another one.

That 4,618 number was the number of Prius Primes sold in the first half of 2024. (The original post that contained that number was posted on July 8, 2024.)

The 12,672 number is the total for the entire 2024 year.

US Sales. It is in the report title. As somebody else pointes out, that was only for part of the year.

Then there’s the (Prius) sales numbers for the early 2010’s; those were the days my friends…

Everything has its day. There are so many options today, it makes 2010 look like the horse and buggy era

Using the term ‘electrified vehicle’ to include HEVs still is very disappointing.
It is very misleading when the rest of the industry refers to ‘electric vehicles’ to include only plugin vehicles.

I loved my 2012, but compared to what I have now, it seems like a Model T.

I do not know. I kinda like that I'm driving a car that no one has ever seen before.

Post edit: I wrote "I dunn0," but it auto-corrected to "I do not know."
    Not the same nuance.

Well for the first time in 40 years, The Ford F-150 is no longer America's best selling vehicle. That honor belongs to the Toyota RAV4 (all varieties).
    Toyota RAV4 Ends Ford F-150’s Reign As America’s Best-Seller | Carscoops

At 475,193 it beat the Ford F-150 sales of 460,915.(y) Pretty amazing that 239,449 of those sales were hybrids and plug-in hybrids which is 50.4% of total RAV4 sales.
