hi all, my prius is having this issue that the aircon is blowing in mode face+feet even though the climate control is set to just face only. So the airflow to the face is very weak. I searched up some information to diagnose the system and it came up with code 49 and 97. i think the fault must be with the blend door but i do not know which one is it. and since i live in asia. i do not need the heater function. i only need the face mode, is it possible to manually adjust the gear and remove the servo plug? thanks !
You should be able to find technical drawings of the hvac system online. In most situations, the whole dashboard and behind need to be removed to access the blend doors, but there may be one you can reach from the footwell, or something you can spray through the system to loosen them up if they aren’t actually broken
The symptoms sound much more like the outlet door. There is an inlet door that selects whether fresh or recirculated air enters the unit. There is a blend (also known as air mix) door that controls how much heat is added to the air. There is an outlet door that selects which outlet(s) the air blows from. Probably if you look up the trouble codes you saw, they will implicate the outlet door servo, and you will find appropriate troubleshooting and repair steps.
