Musk's recent "salute" doesn't help either.

Trump agrees to pause tariffs on Canada and Mexico after they pledge to boost border enforcement | National news | wdrb.com

With tariff threat paused for now, Poilievre renews call for Parliament to resume | CBC News
"Send Canadian Forces troops, helicopters [and] surveillance to the border now," Poilievre said.
The Opposition leader also said a Conservative government would hire 2,000 more Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) agents and extend the powers of the agency along the entire border. As it stands, the CBSA is in charge of official ports of entry and the RCMP patrols in between. "

Canada has finally agreed to make an effort to control its border

Also I would suspect Canada has secretly also committed to begin to control its Fentanyl export problem

Canadian-made fentanyl is an international problem, RCMP says | CBC News

Mexico has magically decided to bring 10,000 troops to its border to control illegal immigration, fight the drug cartels and control drug inflow into the US.

All at no cost to the US taxpayer. Surely Canada and Mexico decided to do this out of their sense of duty and goodness other heart - rather than having the threat of tariffs though.

What do China, Canada and Mexico all have in common - they are all three Major Players in the international Fentanyl Business.

Canada has made an effort? The amount of contraband coming into Canada from the US is about 100X of that going the other way.

"Trudeau said Canada had made new commitments “to appoint a Fentanyl Czar.”

“Canada is implementing our $1.3 billion border plan — reinforcing the border with new choppers, technology and personnel, enhanced coordination with our American partners, and increased resources to stop the flow of fentanyl,” the prime minister wrote. “Nearly 10,000 frontline personnel are and will be working on protecting the border.”

“Proposed tariffs will be paused for at least 30 days while we work together,” wrote Trudeau.

Canada had detailed that border plan on an official web page on Dec. 18, six weeks before Trump announced the tariffs."
Trump pauses tariffs on Canada, Mexico

"Weeks ago, Canada offered $1.3 billion Canadian dollars ($900 million) for border security with a package that included drones, helicopters, more border guards and the creation of a joint task force. On Monday, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said after talks with Trump that they added the fentanyl czar and agreed to list Mexican drug cartels as terrorist organizations."
What did US get from deals to pause tariffs on Canada and Mexico? Not that much, observers say | AP News

Canada voted for that plan back in November. Trump got nothing for his bullying except some panic in the stock market.

The fentanyl coming from Canada to the US is less than 1% of the total.

It was much the same with Mexico.
"Establish two high-level working groups with U.S. officials, including one on security and another on trade. Ms. Sheinbaum said that the agreement also included U.S. action to prevent the trafficking of high-powered weapons into Mexico; Mr. Trump made no public mention of such a promise on Monday."

The 10k troops is mostly a shuffling of deployment. Biden got that many a few years ago to curtail immigrants without the theatrics.

Both Canada and Mexico had planned to do most all of that anyway.

Like the claim that he won the election in 2020, he claims the he won, when he really lost or got nearly nothing.

    Such a salesman.

Mexico and Canada agree to border security deals, avoiding Trump tariffs - Washington Times
"President Donald Trump secured agreements from Canada and Mexico to strengthen border security and combat fentanyl trafficking after threatening to impose 25% tariffs on imported goods from both countries. The deals, reached just hours before the tariffs were set to take effect, resulted in a one-month delay on the president’s proposed trade restrictions."

Mexico, Canada Work Against the Clock to Avert Trump Tariffs
"Mexican and Canadian officials worked the phones and booked trips to Washington as time runs out to stave off President Donald Trump’s threat to impose 25% tariffs against the two largest US trading partners on Saturday."

    Betcha it's not.

I do not think you quite understand Musk, Starlink, or Canada.
    According to fake news:
Starlink has about 400K subscribers in Canada or roughly 3% of their market.
However (comma!!!) it's probably NOT the 3% that have another provider option - so I "suspect" that those folks would KEEP Starlink even with the 100% up-charge.

Musk has 4 million subscribers in the US and they have a $100 'congestion surcharge' in the US to throttle new demand.
    In other words?
I sort of think that money is NOT his North Star, if you know what I mean.
Remember....this is the guy that bought and 'destroyed' Twitter because it was being weaponized - essentially throwing away north of 40-gigabucks.

    Tesla is a public company.
You can hurt Musk's feelings a little bit if you shut it down but it's not like he's going to be eating Ramen and clipping coupons afterwards.....
.....because Space-X (and thus, Starlink and Starshield) are NOT Public companies. ;)

    Using the DEA's 2023 numbers that's still a LOT of ODs.....more than 600.
    More than school shootings.

    How many does it take???
    (or MORE TO THE POINT)
WHY was "He That Shall Not Be Named" ELECTED????

Organised crime is a very dark business . It does exist where it can strike a deal every where on the planet,... even in the US.
Fentanyl is a problem in Canada , and in the US and many parts of the world .Suggesting that fentanyl production does not exist in the US seems quite naive.Yes, every one, domesticaly, has to fight back in it's own country.........imposing tariff on Canada , Mexico , China , and maybe in Europe hides an other agenda ....
Americans are very nice people , generous , caring for others , polite ,but US politics under Trump does not reflect what I see in the american people.

    From your sources.
"High-level teams from Mexico’s foreign ministry and the State Department are in frequent communication working on security and migration, according to people familiar with the matter, who added the State Department sees Mexico as making a significant effort on the latter.
In discussions with US officials and intermediaries, Sheinbaum’s government has touted its progress in disbanding caravans of migrants walking north. Mexico has also increased fentanyl and other drug raids in the last few months."

"For Canadian officials, the focus is hammering home to their American counterparts that Canada has beefed up its border security in response to Trump’s stated concerns. That includes a C$1.3 billion ($894 million) plan unveiled by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in December to add helicopters, drones and other surveillance capacity."

Canada and Mexico didn't give Trump anything they weren't already doing. His only 'win' was getting Canada to appoint a fentanyl czar, and Mexico got him to agree of reducing the guns being smuggled in from the US.

They are canceling government contracts with Starlink.

41 pounds of fentanyl was seized trying to cross the border vs over 10 tons from elsewhere. Not sure how you attributed 600 deaths to the drug from Canada.
