    New Pine Hollow Gen3 Diagnostic

"If you don't diagnose the problem and start firing the parts cannon, things can get out of hand pretty quickly"

Once again Pine Hollow Diagnostics is spot on.

    Place your bets now

Multiple right answers so there are Win, Place or Show possibilities

Includes basic diagnostic tests for no start on a gen3 including ignition, compression and fuel. The usual suspects are all here.

Just after 15 minutes he notes no engine rev when he pushes gas pedal. This is normal when it's cold; it's running purelly on battery power, engine just idling till it warms more.

Reitterates the misconception around 16 minutes: saying he finally got throttle response, due to hybrid battery charging. It's normal behaviour: cold engine just fast-idles, unresponsive to gas pedal, presumbably till a certain coolant temp threshold.

220k miles, he concludes it'll need a head gasket. Oh yeah...

So protracted head gasket failure, knock sensor shuts it down, simple fix: shoot the messenger.

There were a couple of other factors in the usual suspects lineup.

    "Why is it not starting?"

Funny how he says a code telling you the engine is producing less than a fifth of the expected torque is "not useful at all" information....

He already knows the engine won't run right

I Don't have to watch the video to know what the problem is going to be . I'm not going to waste my time watching this video. The real problem is going to surprise you guys

Without wasting my time watching the video just based upon the above messages, I can pretty much tell The engine was never running in the first place. It was just cranking from mg1. When the cranking stopped, the engine stopped. It's usually a seized fuel pump. Keep trying to start it and you'll deplete the hybrid battery and then you'll have to replace that too as well. This bill is going to get really expensive. Really quick. Lift up the rear seat. Cushioned put your hand on the electric fuel pump and listen to the sound. You'll hear it thump but you won't hear it spin. That'll be the problem. You can prove it with a fuel pressure gauge under hood.

Not fuel pump. A simpler reason we hear about quite frequently after guys have doing "maintenance".

The video is a good "how to check systems" on a no start.
