I bought my Prius in November of 2005 and absolutely love this car, best decision I've ever made. When I purchased mine, there was still a premium on here price in Austin, TX, and I ended up paying full sticker price. I have family in Ohio that are considering buying a Pruis and I was wondering about the rest of the country, especially Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan are the prices for Prius' at full sticker, or are dealers negotiating? Also, I've seen a few posts regarding how well a Prius handles in snow/ice....any other comments on that would be appreciated. Thanks!!

We're getting sleet as we speak and that car is staying the in garage because I'm retired and just don't have to go anywhere. It stands to reason that the car, being lighter than most on the road, would have a tougher time on ice, snow and sleet and unless you have chains or studs, or at least snow tires, you're better off at home.
We bought ours nine months ago in Michigan, and paid $500 below sticker. That was a good deal at the time; don't know what they are going for now. Tom
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(qbee42 @ Jan 13 2007, 03:08 PM) </div> Just started shopping this weekend in Southeastern PA. Best offer today (Conicelli Toyota): $1,000 below MSRP on a package 2. Geoff
I bought mine at the beginning of December in western MA, and negotiated for well over $1000 off MSRP. They wanted MSRP but had 25 Prius on the lot and not much of leverage. Just about blue-book on my trade, which they pretended to be irritated about. I spent about an hour and a half going back and forth but ended up saving nearly $3000 vs. the numbers that they initially put on the table. $2000 an hour...best money I'll ever "make!" New buyers should find a dealer with a lot of inventory and don't take any offer that isn't closer to invoice than MSRP. Get up and start walking if need be...they'll sweeten the deal to keep you from leaving. They WILL feed you BS but they will crumble if sufficiently pressured.

The Prius has handled it admirably, much better than expected. It even drove up our long, unplowed driveway without skipping a beat. Pretty impressive considering the uphill slope of the drive. Our car has Goodyear ComfortTreads on it. I'm not sure how much that contributed, but the combo seems to work well.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(brick @ Jan 13 2007, 09:00 PM) </div> I bought my car yesterday. I used the Internet Manager approach. Went to the dealer's web site, called the manager, made an appointment. This dealer was offering at invoice + $500. I arrived at 9am, we negotiated for a while, he accepted my offer and we started the paperwork. The paperwork took longer than the negotiations. I wrote a check and drove the car home. Total time: maybe 2.5 hours. Total research: years... Cheers, Larry
