I just finished running USB cable through the rear hatch via the grommet.
It was suspiciously easy to do compared to the CT200h - very flexible shape and easy to "fish" through.

When putting the grommet back into its hole I get the audible click, but I get the sense that it's not putting enough pressure on the hole to make it water-tight.

For those who did this: Did you tuck any of that surrounding rubber into the hole? I just don't want to end up with water in my headliner. Ask me how I know.

I did the same thing but I'm pretty sure mine looked like yours at the end. I tried pushing it in a bit more but it didn't seem to do anything. If anything, you can compare with the one on the left side of the car. My trunk had one of these on both sides so I used the other as a reference when done.

Yea I was comparing left and right when I reinstalled the grommet. Very hard to tell any difference. The outside rubber seems "tight" on both.

Since you live in Canada - have you been through a bunch of rainy days? No leaks into headliner?

Once it clicks, that's the seal against the steel.

I've been around with the car but I did experience a ton of rain and so far so good, I haven't noticed anything with the headliner and it's been about a year I did this on mine.

It survived our first rain event (a rarity here).
