Got a report from Blackstone lab. I change oil every 5k miles and use Motul Hybrid 0w-16. Report shows high iron, should I try to switch to another oil brand? Or try to send another sample to see what is goin on?

Is "Motul Hybrid 0w-16" TOYOTA grade oil?

Just follow Blackstone's advice: send another sample at your next oil change.

Their conclusion is very clear to me.
Iron is high but they supply possible reasons for it.
Sending in another sample at the next oil change is the best option. This analysis report is your baseline and if you change to a different oil you will skew the results of the nexy analysis.

Do you have a follow-up on this oil analysis and how your engine is doing over time?

When to change oil has a lot to do with how the car is used. For example, I drive 60,000 miles per year, mostly at freeway speeds. On my last oil change, Blackstone recommended extending the oil change to 24,000 miles, up from 21,000, with no make up oil added. Wear metals were good, but Blackstone noted a rise in silicon. They suggested checking my air filter and lo and behold, there was a small tear in the filter gasket, which let dust and dirt get in the engine!

An engine that never gets hot, such as in a Prius driven locally, needs more frequent oil changes as the engine never gets hot enough long enough to burn off water condensation or fuel dilution. An engine used that way might need changes at 2500 miles, especially in cold weather.

I have a 2018 Prius with 189,000 miles, of which about 150,000 were put on since purchasing in June of 2022. Average MPG has been 50.7. Tires lasted about 125,000 miles and it still has the original brakes. Great little car!
