Hey guys, I made an account to get some advice from everyone. I just got a 2007 Prius from a friend of mine and I’ve been having some hybrid battery issues. I’ve replaced some of the cells and the battery ecu. I’m still having issues and getting code P3000 and occasionally the code for “replace hybrid battery” (P0A08) my friends dad helps me do some work on it when I need help. I got the Dr. Prius app and this is the result of it. I have yet to do the “full battery test” but the hv scored low on the “life expectancy test”. Am I better off replacing the battery? Or just playing wack a mole with the cells. Any help or guidance is greatly appreciated since I’m fairly new to hybrid cars. Thank you! I’ve attached some of the info from Dr. Prius also!
That's all usually dictated by your pocketbook You can play whack a mole as long as you have time to play and don't need to drive or like with your flashlight You can go to the store and get new batteries so you can actually see criminals out your window with the flashlight and batteries that work or you can play games some people have lots of time to play games and no money so therefore left the games go on when you get tired of that you'll probably wind up with the battery that works just like the flashlight scenario or you'll buy a Chevy Aveo or something. Kind of like prison stuff You see people in prison put batteries in the refrigerator supposedly so they can listen to another song on the radio rather than buy batteries at the canteen or what have you. Stuff like this starts when people have lots of will and not soo much means.
Which code do you really mean? P0A08, or replace hybrid battery (P0A80)? They're both legit codes, but they mean different things.
Just throwing this out. I have heard that a weak battery in a G2 can cause erratic codes. Have you replaced the 12v battery recently or at all? How old is this battery? People in jail usually do not have refers in their cells - or at all. Either way? Generally speaking it's not a good idea to keep ALKALINE batteries in the fridge or freezer.
If you want reliability and can afford it, get a new HV battery from Toyota (be sure to inspect the pins on the orange connector at the battery ecu - corrosion is fairly common). Good for 10+ years. A "good" reburbished battery might cost almost as much (or not) but might last 2-3 years. Or might fail in months or weeks. DIY might work a few years (if you are lucky or knowledgeable). Can take days or weeks to do (depending on technique & $$ spent on equipment). Or it fails in days or weeks. If you can find a source, getting a (good) complete used battery from a junkyard can be a viable solution. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
