Yeah bestcarweb.jp drawing makes it resemble the Toyota Aygo X which incidentally is almost the exact same size.

But if it's a collaboration with Toyota's Compact BEV SUV then it sort of resembles a squished bZ4X.

That's the model Carscoops gets their dimensions from.

Sure ... in the same way a coupe style makes the smart car look small.

Just to make it clear: my only beef is that they're describing it as an SUV.

If they had announced it as a hatchback I'd probably be on my 6th enthusiastic post about it by now.

By the numbers it seems like a nice car- I look forward to learning more.

But 'the people' don't like hatchbacks or wagons, so everything is called a SUV. Even if the manufacturer calls it a car for regulations(see HR-V and Trax). I'm just going to blame this all on Porsche today for calling a four door sedan a coupe.

The 300 mile range figure might be based on whatever test cycle India uses. Estimating from the i3 EPA, this little car could have a range in the low 200s.

    It’s marketing, that’s all.
SUVs sell better than hatchbacks. Even if they are the exact same car.
Similar to why Toyota says they have a large ‘electrified’ fleet.
It sounds much better than ‘we have a huge hybrid fleet, and a few cars that have plugs’.

Yes, I agree... it's just a name and I need to re-train myself.

For the past 20ish years I've been able to avoid overpaying for trendy crap 'excess content' cars with one simple trick: Rigid avoidance of SUVs.

But now that the moniker is being applied to cars that aren't necessarily trendy crap it's going to take more work to separate the wheat from the chaff.

    Thanks for bearing with me.

actually, i have felt exactly the same way. the name brings negative connotations to my mind.
i wouldn't use it for my product, but i can see how they might be able to fool some folks into buying it because of the name. sounds a bit like sneaker marketing 101

ALL-NEW TOYOTA URBAN CRUISER MAKES FIRST APPEARANCE AT THE BRUSSELS MOTOR SHOW
Well the Urban Cruiser BEV is a go! Shown at the Brussels Motor Show, it will be rolled out in Europe around late Summer of 2025 and will be available with a choice of 2 battery packs. The FWD version will have a choice of a 49 kWh battery and will host a motor with 106 kW (142.2 hp) or will have a 61 kWh battery and a 128 kW (171.7 hp) motor. The AWD versions will have the exclusive 61 kWh battery and a 48 kW (64.4 hp) motor on the rear axle will boost it to 176 kW (236 hp). In case you haven't quite read the entire announcement, both batteries will be LiFePO4 or lithium iron phosphate. Odds are they may be the new bipolar ones discussed previously in their battery announcement from 4 years ago. The size will be slightly bigger than the Yaris Cross as mentioned in post 22 here.

As you can see they refined it a bit and yes it has a rear wiper. They are sticking to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

So what will the name be? Likely for Europe it will be bZ1X (yeah I know the rear name plate says Urban Cruiser), however, lately Toyota trademarked a bunch of names as late as October 31st last year. So they may eventually bring it to the US but as an US made version and under a different name. These are actually old previously used names and I'm betting they won't name it MR2.;)
