Need help. My pruis runs great. Hit a giant hole 2 weeks ago. Had a bad rattle. Like a knock senor or heat shield. Raised car. Checked all for looseness. Nothing. 2 days later it went away. Came back today after 1 week. When I accelerate fast sound goes away. No codes. Could it be in the convertor. 220k new headgasket . Nothing looks loose.cannot find it at idle. Sounds like it could be in engine. Like valve train. But why would it go away. Thanks in advance.
You have posted a topic in the PriusV section. In the description Prius 2011, apparently Gen3. It looks like you have problems with the EGR. It can get clogged with soot residue from the exhaust, which causes the EGR valve to stick in medium power mode. Have you ever cleaned this system?
Sorry about the wrong posting. I got this miss. It came on during a big pot hole hit. At first I thought it was a rattle. Now I think it's a miss at low speeds take off. Had me thinking maybe a bad plug or coil. It's won't do it in ev slow take off or heavy acceleration. Only normal take off. Really drives me nuts. The bad is temp feels like 1 degree out . The better news. I have all my old coils and a new oem. Cooler in my garage I brought 2 months ago. Cooler was cleaned about 3 months ago when I did the head gasket. But maybe the cleaning was not good enough. Car is used for city Uber driving. So Saturday when it gets to 30 degrees out. I will remove the Cooler and replace it. I cheated that bottom bolt . To make the service easier. Left it out. Serves no real functions imho. It's been a good car. I got it running outside like a generator so I can drive it warm to work soon. The engine kinda sounds like you said that EGR rattle somewhat. No oil loss. 222k on car. Tks.i will update in 3 days or so. Last time it went completely away.so I will try the fix. Maybe leave the coils alone and plugs . Do the egr. Cooler. Test drive than see. Thank you .
Is there any indication of errors on the panel other than vibration? Is the check engine light on? In this case, it is best to read the errors with a special scanner to identify and accurately diagnose problem areas.
No codes. But today again seems like a miss. 14 degrees out. Going to replace EGR cooler i have a new one here. Check coils and plugs. Only vibration or miss at slow take off. I had it 2 weeks ago. It went away. I treated it as a loose part as I hit a hugh hole. Checked all exhaust and undercarriage. Was tight. Than noise went away
Non continue saga, i appreciate your help. The cooler stopped leaking. I have a new one to replace this weekend . Cold out. I am a big poster on an uber driver forum 10 years 10,000 posts. Please my friend you really post helpful. things here. I really appreciate you. And all your knowledge. I have alot of car knowledge. I am 62. But not hybrid knowledge.Also i taken you advice. I buy mostly oem toyota parts. EGR-valve cooler. Water-pump. Gaskets. even brought online wiper inserts from Daytona Beach toyota dealer online all 3 . $30.
