I ended up bringing it to a shop that works specifically on foreign cars and does a lot of work on Prius’ (and was recommended by 3 different people). They did not give photos but just said that it is not repairable. I assume by that they meant that it would be more labor to try to repair it therefore more money than just putting a new one in.

Mainly I find it weird that this happened because I believe it is not super common for this gen to have bad transmissions (or Priuses in general). Even weirder is that my partners car, who brought his to the exact same shop to get his oil changed when I did mine initially, had the transmission fail three weeks ago and had to junk his car (he had a ford escape, notorious problem car so less shocking just odd timing…).

I’m debating on just tossing the 3k to get it done and over with so I don’t have to stress about it anymore. I just don’t want to end up needing another car in a year if I do this.
