    Hello there,

Please help! After jumping a dead battery due to letting it sit for 2 weeks in cold weather, I had several lights come on (brake light, ABS light, Red Triangle, display say “problem” followed by “P/S”. 12 V battery has been test and is fine. Codes that come up are C1241, C1253, C1256, C1310, C1313.

I have been driving the car for the past 2 weeks even with the lights. The skid control is not working like it used to in the snow. ABS system doesn’t work as I heard my tires squeal once when hitting the brakes hard. I believe my power steering seems to still be working.

My current theory: I think I fried the Skid control power supply circuit and/or Brake control power supply assy when I jumped my car. I’m 99% sure I didn’t reverse the polarity. I triple checked!

If you clear codes, do they come right back?

All those codes together indicate that the ABS ecu has a problem with the high current power feeds that it uses to run the pump. You need the service information and wiring diagrams to do testing.

The backup power source has other codes if it is faulty.

Thanks a ton for your comments. The dealership mentioned that they cleared the codes after putting in a new 12v and they popped right back up. So for I have swapped all relays related to the abs system as well as pulled a used Brake control power supply assembly and replaced my current one to see if I could make it an easy fix. Still have to codes popping up (I can’t wipe the codes on my own right now).

I also pulled a used ABS ECU assembly but have been dragging my feet on replacing it in my Prius since I have to pull apart the dash. Once I swap out and if codes are still present, I may take to a local shop with tech stream to get codes reset.

I’m handy but still a novice. I’m open to any extra advice. I know a common recommendation is to get something type of reader. So far I have seen people recommend tech stream and a windows pc. It seems very involved. Any recommendations on something that is more plug and play? Ideally not crazy expensive (below 200).
