    Hey guys!

I have a gen 2 (2006), while trying to open the boot the tailgate was pretty much crumbling in my hands, like many people before me, I used duct tape to hold it up:

Then I puchased that piece from Amazon, as well as part #1 (see below pic) from China, installed #1 on the tailgate and attached it to the car, I did not connect #2

but when I try to open the boot, nothing happens :(

I tried it with the old switch (#1) as well and it still won't open :(

Question 1: What could be the problem? Please advise

Question 2: The duct tape has left some white residue as can be seen in pic 1, best way to take that out?

    Thanks!

Pick the tailgate back up I believe you have to plug in number two The button with the rubber over it in the center of the car that wire goes over to the button which is number two and then the plug off number two goes to the car so that's right right now with that disconnected you have no clicking no noise nothing plug that up and now push the button and you'll hear the trunk lock release it clicks.

Traces of adhesive tape are easily removed with brake fluid. But be careful! Apply a small amount to a rag and wipe off without applying much force. The trunk may not open because the antenna does not detect the smart key, and the signal to open the door does not come.
