HI got a Prius and I lost all keys, managed to open the car so a lock smith can program a key for me, he said Prius with smart key is one if the easiest one. but he has tried to program key and he gets no communication. has connected booster to battery so he has 14v, put on hazards and pushed ignition 5 times as his tool suggested and nothing eveytime he tries to read access the car computers to reset the immo system it has no connection. he tried to fit me into his busy schedule as he has booked customers for around a week so he only had short period of time. as it was supposed to be a quick job. so question is any one know what could be the reason? he said he could remove the immo box and read manually the eprom data but that would mean dismantling the whole dash and in this cold weather it will become a very expensive job, unless I can get it back to his garage but then recovery will be very expensive... reading online in one forum some one mentioned he jumped across the ignition relay and he has solved the problem... but after 2 hours of searching ic an not find what relay is this, most sites say this is an "internal" relay not accessible but on ebay all relays for sale look like normal relays would appreciate if any one provide info which can help thanks in advance
Only dash top comes off 45 min even in cold . Pull vents very few screws. It's right under CM monitor . Youda been finished days ago
so after removing top dash what would you recommend as next step? swap immo box from a car that starts and has a key? or can you directly read the immo box EEPROM? is there anyway to "jump" ignition relay? I think that would be the easiest have read multiple forums but no one explained where this relay issue the temp is around -18C outside around 0F and after 5 minutes your hands are gone lol
I haven't personally tried any of this I just now have gotten to the points where I have these parts but I would think you'd be able to take the SKS black box under the dash just ahead of the CM monitor which will now be laying on your seat or something because the dash top is off anyway it's a black box and it says right on it s k s or something like that I'll try to take a picture of it and send it to you And if you have the remotes that go with that box that should allow you to use the two remotes that go with the box that you have that looks like the one you're taking out of the car that you can't start and plug that up make sure the remotes are powered and got good batteries and all that and try to start the car with the dash top off Just see if it'll boot up or with everything just loose I think that SKS computer it's black is the one that does all the talking to the remotes and the transponders which are inside the fobs that should make the car work when that's plugged up your car is going to think that the two fobs you have have always been there and working I guess I don't think there's any programming to the car any of that I'd be hard for me to believe It should just recognize that SKS box doesn't care whether it's new or not it's just there and then hopefully it can find some remotes that it's programmed to with apparently you have I want to know if it works too so let me know.
