Everything just died - lights, dash, engine, aircon, coasted to a stop and went into park, had to get towed. Only thing working is the door locks. Drivers side window is stuck 2" down. No warning symbols or alerts showed prior to this. Can't get a mechanic till next week Only issue prior was the aircon not cooling well. I did have the coolant pump replaced in Dec-23 Have the Toshiba Tech Stream setup - will try to read codes tomorrow. Could it be as simple as a blown fuse? Update: 8-Jan Success! It was the AM2 Fuse, thank you all for the guidance. I got replacement fuses same day couriered from SuperAutoCheap - Courier cost more than the fuses Turned out to be unnecessary as the engine fuse block had spare fuses still, also the Fuse Puller which worked a lot better than the generic one I got. Electrics came back on, I was able to wind the windows up, took a punt and reversed the car back into my carport (Tow truck left us on the street). If I knew all this yesterday, I could have fixed it up on the spot. Red triangle came on briefly, then went away. I'm wondering if it will be ok to drive it the 10Km to my mechanic for a service/repair next week. Much less painful than another tow.
It could be or the fusible link in the big fuse box the long clear strip I need to look through that real good and make sure there's also a fuse in the hybrid batteries orange plug. And you need to check the positive battery connection in the trunk under the plastic tray where the actual 12 volt battery is I would say at this point sounds like you have no power I mean do you have the problem in the car where the dash regularly goes black but the car still works? Not a lot to go on here just yet.
Yes, it could be a blown fuse. Check the AM2 fuse in the fuse box under the hood of the car. What coolant pump was replaced? There are three different pumps in a Gen 2.
^ Yep, sounds like one of the main fuses blew. It's summer down there, so if you have an electric AC compressor - disconnect it. It may be the cause of your short and blown main fuse. Hope this helps....
Thanks for the fuse hint! will check - easy to find? Will dig through the car manual. The Inverter Coolant Pump.
Yup, 32c / 90F and humid Car is stock, no modifications - would that mean an electric AC compressor? Where would I disconnect it? Thanks.
The inverter coolant pump is downstream of the AM2 fuse. If the fuse is bad, you may again have a bad inverter pump that needs to be replaced. The pump you purchased in Dec 2023, was it a Toyota OEM pump or an aftermarket pump? The aftermarket pumps are known to only working for a year or two.

Check to see if the inverter coolant pump is working. Take the cap off the inverter coolant reservoir. Turn on the car on by pushing the start button twice without touching the brake peddle (accessory mode). If the pump is working, you should see some turbulence when you look down into the reservoir. You might also be able to hear the pump running.
Yah, definitely the pump, no turbulence or noise at all. Also blew a fuse again. Guess I'll be getting another tow Thanks for all the help, has done a lot to calm my anxiety knowing what the issues are.
Make sure you get a new Toyota OEM pump for the replacement. It will last much longer than an aftermarket pump. You should be able to disconnect the wire to the inverter pump. Then you will not blow the AM2 fuse. You could then drive the car slowly to the shop for service. Do not use the AC when you have the pump disconnected. I know that there are threads in this forum that have pictures showing the connector that you need to take apart to disconnect the pump. Try doing a search in this forum to find the pictures.
one or more of your electrical motors are drawing too much energy, that's why you popped the AM2 fuse. Other than the two motors in your transmission, the AC compressor is third in current consumption on your car. You need to figure out what assembly is drawing too much power, otherwise you'll just pop that fuse again. Hope this helps....
Read post #12. The problem is the inverter coolant pump. It is a very common problem on a Gen 2 Prius. The AC compressor is not on the AM2 circuit.
