It suddenly sounds like a roar and bits of stuff flying around or something broken. I need to get to it to see what is going on. Does anyone have a good video of how to access the fan?
    Thanks

Open up the glove compartment and pull out the cabin filter (see manual). You will find the problem most likely is a nest.

    Aka rodent nest.

fix is to remove the $@#?! wipers and cowl, and cover cabin air intake opening securely, with anti-rodent mesh (1/4” mesh spacing, galvanized steel mesh, readily available at hardware stores etcetera).

Thanks for the replies. I will do this as soon as I can. I have suspected a rodent nest from the first thing I heard. It doesn't appear like it will be too difficult to get to it.

Just empty out glove box first (so it’s easier to handle. I’m only familiar with Gen 3 hatchback but assuming it’s sim: you need to flex the glove box end walls inward, to get them by stops. There’s also a pneumatic piston on one end wall you unhook. Then lift the glove box a bit and it comes out of its hinge points and off.
