Clock spring question

    Replaced clock spring cable with $210 genuine Toyota part from a Toyota dealer.
    While it fixed steering wheel buttons and horn, the driver side airbag still is on. Resetting airbag by unplugging yellow cable under the seats didn't do anything
    The dtc code I had received was b1801/51

    What should I do next ? Thanks

    Saw the manual in SFO's posting.

    Do you have part# for
    REPLACE HORN BUTTON ASSY
    REPLACE AIRBAG ASSY

    If it's not expensive I'll replace HORN button assy and if that does not work airbag assy

    In the procedure SFO posted, if you were looking for other things to speculatively replace, all I see are "HORN BUTTON ASSY" (that's the actual air bag), the "AIR BAG ECU ASSY" (that's the central air bag computer down on the front floor), the "INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE" (harness), and the "SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSY" (that you already replaced).

    None of those will be inexpensive.

    The video is a good visualization of how to disassemble the steering wheel, but he sure missed a few things!
    1 - When he "disconnected" the battery, he left both the positive and negative terminals connected! The car was still electrically hot when he took out the airbag!!! Ouch.
    2 - After removing the airbag, he did not mark the alignment of the steering wheel and the steering shaft. This could have left him with the wheel cocked when driving straight.
    3 - When he was removing the wiper and cruise stalk module, he was flipping the spiral spring around on the steering shaft. It also needs to stay in alignment with the steering shaft, lest it not be centered in its allowable range, so that it will break when the wheel is turned to its extreme range. (He was more concerned with replacing the stalks module and not concerned with the spiral spring, but he should have been!
    He may have gotten away with it this time, but...

    He unplugged the cable from the positive terminal assembly. It's faster than taking a wrench to the terminal clamps. The electrons don't care there's a left-behind part still clamped on the battery post.
