Which one do you use the Gallon Jug (3.78 Liter) or multiple Quart Bottle (946 mL each) ? Because the owner's manual says to refill 4.4 qt. (4.2 L) with filter or 4.1 qt. (3.9 L) without filter.
If the engine does not consume any oil, I think any 0w-20 with Dexos1 gen3 or VW 508/509 will give the best protection and cleaning. Valvoline also has restore and protect series. It really cleans the piston rings well over time if there is some deposit on the oil control rings. If the oil consumption has started and not too bad (cylinder wall still good), Valvoline restore and protect will unlodge sludge snd carbon on the rings. It was proven by used oil analysis from the higher Mn reading. Mn is common in varnish on the engine that came from octane booster additives in fuel.
My 2013 has nearly 85K miles on it. I would love to try Valvoline Restore & Protect but it is not sold in my country.
@kamrul if you live in Europe, just grab 0w-20 longlife IV 508/509 that has higher standard than API SP or SN qualifications. VW sometimes claim to have longlife 20k miles interval but I don't recommend to do 10k miles interval even with VW Oil. I found Total Ineo and Fusch is affordable and has higher PAO contents with -55C poir point. Cheaper oil has highet pour point like Mannol or Eurolube -45C.
Don't waste your money. It's like snake oil. I started using it on 8 March 2024, at 330,277 miles. And I used seafoam for 500 miles before changing. I changed every 5000 miles, give or take a few hundred depening on when I was able to get it changed. I turned 363,000 miles today. I am not burning any less oil. Not that the engine was dirty, but if that stuff worked. it would have cleaned out the oil rings and oil consumpsion "should" have gone down.
@ASRDogman, It is most likely the cylinder walls are already worn out and the cross hatch pattern are missing on some spots and cannot hold oil anymore. I am curious if you ever inspect them with borescope. The 2.5L engines are also known to have cylinder walls damaged from 10k mile oil change interval. Mine does not consume engine oil although my timing cover leaks and the oil does not even drop 1mm between oil change.
Between all kind of Mobil 1 0w-20, the Truck and SUV mobil 1 has the most superior formulations. Longest life and for heavy duty antiwear with better Base oil (PAO + Alkylated Naphthalene)
