I did this same lease with 4500 rebate deal in July on a Prime XSE Premium. Per this post (Thanks Bozi), I registered and logged into the TFS site just a few days after the lease contract was signed and was able to get the expected payoff amount. And I also got my credit union payoff check soon after and sent it off to TFS. Toyota received my payoff check on 8/14 but it still hasn't processed as they are currently having payoff delays as their site has this posted at the top of the page when you sign into your account.

    "Lease Purchase Transaction Processing Delay
We are currently experiencing delays in processing lease purchase transactions. Our team is working diligently to expedite the process."

My 2nd lease payment is due on 9/1 and as of today, per a call to TFS, and since they have not been able to process my lease payoff check yet, my lease is still technically "open". So, per the call and a review of my contract, if I don't get notification that my lease payoff has processed by 9/9, I'll probably make that 2nd lease payment (which will eventually be reimbursed after the lease payoff is processed) in order to avoid any possible impacts/alerts/etc. Per my contract, I have until 9/10 before any late fees/alerts assessed. Per the TFS call, the delays are due to some new system they are implementing. The TFS rep said they usually turn those payoff checks around in 4 days but for now they're taking around 20 days due to that ongoing system upgrade.

    Prime was 48000 in Europe with a 8000 grant , so 40k.

I'm not in calif, but if one plans an immediate lease buy out, is there any advantage (tax wise) to put as much down as possible when getting the car?

I believe so b/c you are only paying sales tax on the buyout value/ I had put down $ 9000 pls the $4500 from Toyota, so I only paid the 7.5% CA sales tax on about 20K.

What kind of discounts are you seeing? The best I can get is 32.5k on a Prime SE.

SE is very hard to find; so, you won’t get much discount. XSE Premium is way overstocked, and you could get a several-thousand-dollar dealer discount.

Where are you seeing this? I am not seeing any discounts. Do you know the name of any dealer taking a few thousand off of an XSE. They won't budge around here.

$32.5k on an SE is a great deal. I got mine for slightly less. Based on my own research and some data from couple of car brokers, a good discount seems to be within the $1500 - $2500 range for the Prius Prime SE. Now the time to buy IMO. There's decent inventory levels and who knows what will happen to the EV tax credit, let alone the loophole that allows us to get $4500 off.

Not in my experience. In my prius prime SE hunting of nov/dec of 2024 (i.e., very recently), I found many prius prime SEs available in the eastern part of the US. And I found at least two dealers (one in NY and the other in WV) willing to go $2,200 below msrp on their prius prime SE (and that was over and above the $4,500 TFS lease credit).

How much are you all ending up with after buying out your lease?
