Good time of the day and soon Happy New Year here in NY.
Need a little help. New to me 2006 Prius with 210k miles. This is a replacement for my 2010 with 330k that finally blew a h/g.
Tonight I was changing a tiny dome light bulb and car went dead. When I say "dead" I mean DEAD as a brick. There are NO POWER whatsoever. No lights , no beeps , NADA. I googled for 2 hours and every post I see starts with " dead except...". There is no "except" in my case. I disconnected the battery , waited , reconnected - nothing. Car was running perfectly fine , with the exception of bad combo meter ( intermittent dash lights ).
Now there isn't even security light on the dash. No power to any component.
Is there a fuse that may have gotten blown ? I can't imagine replacing a bulb would blow main fuse?

How old is the 12v battery? Use a meter to read the voltage of the 12v battery.

I no longer have access to the trunk area, but at the fuse block it's 12.81 vdc

Problem solved. Found blown 15amp "dome" fuse. Replaced , car is back to live. Don't ask how and why , but lesson learned for sure.

Well, the DOME fuse does supply battery power to part of the body control ecu (which controls many things).

I would start by checking voltage at the 12V battery, and at the "jumpstart point". Then check fuses, both underhood and underdash.

By the sound of it, your charging system is faulty. The Prius has no 12V alternator, but it has a DC-DC converter that maintains your 12V battery by drawing power from the higher voltage hybrid system.
