As above, seeking advice. 24 LE AWD - no fog switch or lamp I can find The rear fog: so far the plan is a 'bar' over from the license screws. Tag a feed, run 2 conductors up to the left hand sill trim, switch in hole (at left hand when dropped), and then back to lamp. It is LE, I do not know higher trims. Is it worth investigating / then flashing and installing a factory system (for front fogs and tag feed from there)? Or just implement my plan? Suggestion for feed point from rear? Do any existing lamp systems 'rebel' at 4 more milliamps? Front dash cam: Is it acceptable to 'sticky' to the dotted area? Is it GPS / radio transparent? Rear (dash) cam Looks like it will have to go on the hatch glass (high near hinge) or maybe on hard trim for glass. Any suggestions for wiring (needs to hinge / flex for hatch swing). Any experience? THX!
I need to suggestion about rear dash cam too. Recently I bought Fitcam front and rear. The wiring for rear is you can just stuck the cable in between panels and plastic rubber (Top of the doors to all the way back), but it creates little gap. I believe if you just leave it there for a long time, that gap will be permanent.
Hey there! I run my dashcam through one of the usb slots i have that’s being powered by my mirror tap, i tuck the wires along the side of the housing for the rear view mirror and then to top of the interior liner onto part of the B pillar and then I run it through the entire side of liner until it reaches to the trunk area and I have it set up right on top of the trunk window. I left enough slack on the cable so it won’t interfere with the opening of the trunk, even at max height. As for your fog light or lamp, I don’t know if I’m understanding it correctly but isn’t it easier to just connect it directly to the 12v battery in your trunk for power? You can find your desired lightbar or fog lamps, the switches they come with all have a fuse with a relay, if you do not like the switches they give you, you can always swap them out for another one. As for the wiring, you can definitely drill the section behind your license plate holder to route it all the way up your trunk and then to the front of the car and mount your switch there. Cheers!
Couldn't you attach the rear dash cam directly to or underneath the roof lining and not directly to the rear screen? That way you'll avoid that length of cable dangling. Because the rear ones are typically very light, it's quite straightforward too.
How is that rear camera even stick to glass, I tried bunch of double sided tapes, even with expensive ones, but no hope. Also, when you put the cable all the way back to front, do you have any gap for the panels because of that cable? Because some areas have gap when I stuck the cable there. Did you need to remove any component to put cable?
You must be using the wrong tape. 3M VHB (Very high bond) will support over 5kg. Make sure that the glass area is scrupulously clean, isopropyl alcohol is what you should use in preparation. As far as the cable to the rear camera is concerned, be careful where the airbags are situated. The side and curtain airbags are located behind the trim so personally I avoid them. I'm using a 622 Nextbase with rear telephoto camera attached. It's not as good as a dedicated rear camera, but it shows any tailgating etc. If you had a tap into the tailgate wiring, it can be done that way but you can bet your insurance and manufacturer won't support you if there's an incident regarding electrics or airbag deployment.....
