Hiya guys. I did a bunch of searching and reading but couldn't find what I was looking for. I got this cheapo fog light kit https://amzn.to/3rMEh0j The grilles are awful quality, but the wiring harness looks to be decent and convenient, even though there's some weird lengths of wiring if it's supposed to be a custom fit. Anyway, I'm looking for a simple place to poke the wires through for the switch. And how to get access to the blank next to the dash dimming switch. Any advice?
There is the rubber cap with two mastoids on the right which is useful to wire the cables through the firewall.
sorry for the highjack but tell me about that nifty little charging volt gauge insert in the last pic!
How about the indicators for EV, DRL and Automatic light? Currently, the functionalities of EV and Automatic light are all done.
I was wanting to make an EV indicator back in the day. I was planning on etching on and using an LED with my can-view to make everything work but I never really officially started the project. Not that I want to do it now but how did you do this?
Because of the different version of the boards I am not pretty sure, in my opinion, you may not need the can-view as a decoder. At least, I don't need it in my case. All you need is a pin for scraping the paint, an IC or transistor as an LED driver, some LEDs and resistors, colored film or paint if you prefer a different color like brown instead of white, red, Blue, green etc. of basic color LEDs. Or, you can buy color-tunable LEDs. You also need the wrapping wires, solder wire and iron. Here is the link below I ever posted on the forum about some records of my EV indicator: EV indicator
Sorry for replying so late. It is not necessary to install all the wires through the firewall. I poked at one of the two mastoids on the left grommet on the second pic, then only ran the control wire from the fog switch through the hole in the mastoid to the relay on the third pic. In addition, the power cable for the fog lamps comes from the original fog lamp fuse in the main fuse box on the driver's side in the engine compartment. So it almost looks like the original manufactured wiring. By the way, I forgot to clearly state that the grommet locates on the passenger side of the engine bay where the arrow points in the third photo.
I’m working on this now. Where did you connect to the main fuse box? I have the ground connected to chassis ground. And the NIlight switch is connected to battery power.
There's a fuse socket for the fog light in the main fuse box. You can simply use a fuse tap with a fuse to get the 12v power from it. I installed the fog relay in the center relay box.
