How Long Can Prius Prime Sit With Good 12v Battery

    Regardless of the 12 volt battery not cranking the engine, I take a below spec CCA test result as a symptom of a failing battery, one that'll soon leave you stranded, necessitate less than optimum battery purchase, and so on.

    We may not have the freezing temps, but we have the baking temps. Today, Dec 27, was a chilly 76 degF. Many folks have said batteries only last a year or two here because of our summer temps around 96 degF (even hotter parked in the Garage). It will not surprise me if the Toyota spec'd battery does not make it to the 3 yr warranty.

    Like @Mendel Leisk I put an Optima battery in my previous Prius, but need to wait till the basic warranty runs out before changing out major components like the battery. Hopefully changing out the battery at 3 years will not void the 10 year Toyota Roadside Assistance. Something to consider.

    It's shouldn't, that's a common wear-out item, Like tires, brakes and wiper blades...
