Lately, I have been hearing various sounds like ticks or metallic sounds when I press the brake and stop the car. Also, when I release the brake pedal to start moving. The ticks are definitely coming from the engine compartment. Does this happen to others as well? Thanks and Happy New Year!

if it's not warn pads, might be the brake booster

Pads are new. If you mean the ABS device the break booster has been replaced 2 years ago and the car became silent.
Now, if it's gonna breaks again, it;s time to get another car...

And then your pad set did you get all the Chrome anti-rattle springs and replace all of those etc The ones in the car may be there but the springs could be sprung if you will anything that's got slopp in it will allow clicking and ticking usually I found so far the brake booster actuator assembly is a one-time replacement generally and I'm using used ones so go figure I haven't had to replace one yet of course most of them have only been on about 3 to 5 years but it's the first thing these cars get when I pull them from tow lots and what have you That's usually what's happened is the person just replaced the hybrid battery then the brake booster goes bad and now it's sitting in the toe lot with a nice battery in it and the brake booster singing and maybe the lights on and the beeper howling but the car drives fine drive it home replace the brake booster got another whole car
