There is a simple rear wiper mod for Gen 2 that permits lifting the rear wiper fully up when cleaning the rear window. Is there a comparable mod for Gen 3?

The Gen 3 has a cover that can be raised to allow the rear wiper to be raised when cleaning the rear window. No mod just the way the car is made.

It's been so long ago since I did it, that I forgot all about it almost! I remember that you take that cover off (just pop it off at the base of the wiper), then there is some little 'tab' sticking down on that cover you removed which is what prevents the wiper from raising when the cover is on. You just clip/file off that little piece, snap the cover back on, and then you can raise your wiper like it should have been made at the factory! Here's a pic of the underside of the cover on my rear wiper, and you can see where I filed that little piece down on the bottom side:

***just making sure you saw my response, in case you want to do the same simple little mod to your cover so you never have to take it off again to raise your wiper any time you feel like it...***

From what I understand, the reason that you want to hold the wiper against the rear windshield is due to the aerodynamics of the air coming over the car and rushing by the rear windshield can cause the wiper to raise off of the windshield or flutter.

It takes only a second to pop the cover off of the bottom of the wiper in order to lift the wiper up. I prefer to leave mine like it is.

I've been driving 90-100mph on the Interstate for 200 miles a day for the last few years, and my wiper has never lifted or flapped, but some mods are for some folks and some mods aren't! :)

I see - its the same as the gen 2. I made the mod to my gen and never had any issues whatsoever with flapping etc. I'm gonna do the same thing to my gen 3. It drives me buggy the way it is.

The best mod is just to remove the wiper ...It doesnt even clean the window very well.

No, the best mod is to get the longer wiper arm!

I guess it depends on where you live... I've had to use mine daily for almost a month now. It rains/pours every day, and hurricane season is nowhere near over!

When it rained one time here in Cali...It did nothing...It was better to just let it bead off the window.

Well, my rear wiper works like a dream, and I couldn't drive the car without it here.

Can someone post a how to to remove the rear wiper? I don't drive my car in the rain at all so the wipers are of no use to me :)
