Hey everyone I was scrolling through the settings in my car and I notice that I could update the Gracenote database, software, and map updates through USB. The problem is I cant find any downloads to update the software. Could anyone help me out with updating my car? The current system version is V6673300. I wouldn't get yo carried away with this . Enjoy the car till ya cannot . No updates to the 3 really make anything happen just saying I've the updates they 22 but you have to have this to run . Gracenote ? Sounds UK
I'll second that the updates are marginal at best, even on Gen 4 as well. The gracenote thing is for album (technical term ) art, title and track info for CDs. The map update might be worth the effort, if one uses the nav all the time. But I wouldn't bother myself. Even the AI enhanced stuff ain't what all the hype makes it out to be. There are patterns that are obvious as soon as one backs away for a minute and takes a closer look at how it works and or doesn't.
Map updates are dealer only, several hundred dollars and are locked down with one time use encryption. Entune mfd updates are floating around as usb binaries but the Entune servers were eliminated. Basic mfd function updates with no maps, altogether not worth the risk of bricking the system -which has happened. What you need is a standalone 10" CarPlay/Android Auto display that will give you realtime maps and updates from your phone. Along with far better phone control and messaging. Some for a little over $100.
