When my '23 Prius gen 5 was 1 year old I started getting this error message.

I assume it is referring to Drive Connect since that screen comes up next. Once I exit this screen, I get this one:

I think of myself as something of a geek, but it won't go away. I've tried logging in to the Toyota app to tell them I don't want drive connect (not at 25$ a month), but that isn't an option. I'm tired (after 2 months) of clicking through two error screens to get to Android Auto.

Has anyone else seen this, and more important fixed it? The tech guy at our dealership talked to someone at Toyota tech and they said I had to disconnect the 12 volt battery for 20 minutes, but I can't believe I'll have to do that and go through all the setup stuff again.

    Any suggestions? Please?

Unplugging the battery for 20min shouldn't delete your settings. In my experience, it only affects a few very minor things. The only thing I've consistently noticed is the main screen defaulting back to the single round display when I had it set to the split screen mode before disconnecting the battery. I don't recall having to reset anything else. (I've had the battery disconnected for over 20min many times.) You could also try deleting the app from your phone and reinstalling it, but I suspect that won't do anything.

If that doesn't work, I'd probably try removing the car from your Toyota account, deleting the app on your phone, reinstalling the app, and then adding the car back to your Toyota account again. (note: this will delete most/all of your infotainment settings)

There's also the last resort option of doing a factory reset. I have no doubt this would work, but you'd have to reset absolutely everything back the way you wanted it.

Thanks. I've printed your suggestions. The idea of a factory reset makes my blood run cold. I'll get started on your list.

I've done it. It's easy, just annoying because of all the re-customizing you need to do. I don't think it affects the main instrument cluster or the memory seats*, but you lose radio presets and anything else customized by the infotainment system.

*Actually I could be wrong about the memory seats, but it's only a hassle if you've configured both presets. The seat will already be in one of the memory positions, so all you have to do is press Set and the memory number(1 or 2) and that one's good to go. If you've saved both presets, then the other one might have to be completely re-saved.

Hi Hammersmith, sorry, how do you do a real hardware reset?

Apologies for abusing this post, but I'm still (since months) with this problem and Toyota will have to replace the entire navigation system.

Maybe I can try a "real" hardware reset.

What I was referring to was the software reset your dealer has already tried. It will work in Sharol's case because of the type of problem she has.

Your problem seems to be a very rare issue, and the few reports of it on the internet don't include a solution. One report was from a 2023 or 24 Lexus RX, and the other I found was from a Corolla TS.

There’s a concept, called Peter Principle, that’s somewhat applicable to tech levels in cars; when the complexity reaches a point you can’t make a move without research and the manuals at your elbow.
