    Quack!

SEC shootout was fairly typical, and both dogs (Bull and Under) managed a dubbaya.
I loathe the horns and am not that wild about Jawga - although they DID meet the moment.
I think at 9, Georgia may have more OT practice then the rest of college football combined, and they managed without their primary QB and kicker.
I still have to watch some vids but it Clemson had a good night surprising nobody, as did Oregon.
Some earlier game featuring two out west teams did not merit my interest.

    NOW the real drama begins!

Saw it in NCAA yesterday. Again today in NFL.

Are players running out of bounds more to avoid tackle, thus injury?

it definitely makes sense to go oob if you think you're going to get hit, but idk if it's happening more often. i've only been watching the nfl for about 40 years

    Da Bowls:

College Football Playoff's inaugural 12-team bracket is set | AP News

Vols including (formerly employed) me wish Tenn well, but The Ohio State seems more likely to have another shot at Oregon. To be played in Rose Bowl, built in 1922. Rose Rose has been superseded for modernists, but it was the thing for several sports for a long time. I am happy Oregon will be tested there.

Co timed Peach Bowl will advance TX (probably not Clemson) to confront winner from above to Jan 9 Orange Bowl. Winner will face Cotton Bowl winners (probably Penn State or Notre Dame) from Fiesta and Sugar, in Orange. Last two standing compete Jan 20 Mercedes Benz Natl Champ Bowl Atlanta Georgia. I predict that game will have highest commercial spot prices ever for 'College Any Sport,' and interesting to see how close they come to $uperBowl.

But the twelve seem a muddle. I dare to simplify. Among Oregon, Texas and The Ohio State, one will prevail. That one will have a romp against whichever from 'other half' on 2025 Jan 20.

    Hmmmm
    Interesting analysis. Not entirely unconventional.
I've learned to avoid the word "will" in college football - which?
.....is sorta the point of football.

    If you're 'data-centric?'
    Stick to baseball. ;0

    If:
"12 seems a muddle" consider the number of teams involved - and compare and contrast with the NFL.
Ask yourself if maybe the Gamecocks or the Rebs might also deserve a shot?

If I'm the scheduler for the ACC, SEC, etc...?
I'm going to lean into scheduling!!!!!
    - ESPECIALLY since scheduling does not seem to matter after Turkey day.
MAYBE give a team like Clemson as easy an entre into the playoffs as 'others' have been gifted with!!!

    Fear not!
The transfer portal will probably flatten all of this out.

    Sometimes.
It's a "rules" thing, and it gets a little complicated in the 2020's where QBs are willing to use their legs and soak up a nasty hit to advance the ball.
Add to this - an injury complicates their future 8-figure contract prospects for the 'leaners in.'
The OOB lines offer safety, but also there is the possibility (as we saw in the SEC championship) of an OOB injury.

I think college ball is about where it needs to be with this - which is why there are giga-bucks of money in this "non professional" sport.

    Think about it.
Nostalgia = "history plus a few drinks."

-they sell booze at nearly every college football park!

Navy sails to victory. They overcame pre-game predictions and team rankings. I assume that NAVY QB is MVP if that is awarded.

Horvath is also a famous family name in biogeochemistry :)

As for audience leaving early, I understand there is also a post-game trophy that must be observed.

Walking on the wild side of political infringement, President-elect's retinue included some notable people. He does have a choke hold on media as sports

I can manage not to think of the former/future President for hours at a time - especially when I'm watching Navy beat Army.
    As for P45/P47?

He dang sure seems to be a heckuva lot more popular than he usta was.
I'd be lying if I said that I did not know he was at the game - but I would not be lying if I said that I stopped thinking about him after the first snap.

Not sure about any choke holds and sports media outside of MMA - which I guess is a sort of sport.

Yay! Tulane avoids shutout in Gasparilla Bowl. Still gon na lose to to Florida but not by shutout.

There have been only 3 shutouts in College Bowl history. Maybe. This is not the easiest thing to search. But shutouts are plentiful through the course of football seasons. Platonic ideal was in 1915 when Georgia Tech scored 222 to Cumberland's ...zero.

    Talk about a gap.

Next up, can Indiana melt the lead* from Notre Dame's cathedral?

    * lead meaning the element, or the score differential? Sports writers are supposed to be clever. I'm still in training.

    Nope.
Not if the second half is like the first.
Hoosiers just got on the board with 3 - so it's neither a shutout nor a bowl.

Maybe that whole strength of schedule is a 'thing' after all......

Notre Dame, Penn State and Texas beat their lower-ranking opponents.

Ohio State is now solidly flogging Tennessee, Vols having negative 3 total yards advance. With this likely win, O will next meet the other O Oregon. Uh Oh ...

A solid day for the pollsters.
The vols are down by three possessions more than half way through the third quarter.
I'm agnostic about orange crush but if I were the Bucks, I'd be careful about putting the starters on the bench just yet.

Still no shut outs in the series - but I'm a little curious if I was wrong in #52 about the Hoosier's game.
    Is this a 'bowl?'

    Also....

Four possession game with 16 minutes on the clock.
    Too bad, Vols.

Ya TN was tasked with protecting OR from OH and they dina do it.

Now the Buckeyes have Duckeyes and that sounds like trouble.
