    SoCal at the time provided 1.2¢/kwh after you exceeded parody with how much you provided them above your usage. At the time that's what SoCal Edison also paid for incoming power (± 5yrs either side of 2016) .... so yea - it would go back to the grid where they would easily charge over 50¢/kwh to other customers from our excess. And that was during the cheap time of the day - at tier III rates (excess used above 1200 kwh).
    From talking with people we know - still stuck in socal, the rate plans are now even more egregious. Their socialist governor now proposes a plan to the PUC that requires anybody that makes too much money (&100,000+/yr) has to pay even higher rates. Like income tax.
    Prime areas of San Francisco & Silicon Valley gets you a puny bachelor's flat if you're only bringing down 6 figures.
    Gavin Newsom portrays the part of the environmentalist while he makes it very difficult for PV solar to be of much benefit to risk the big capital outlay.
