OK, enough is enough. I'm ready to concede that it time for me to get a remote start for my car. My problem is I'm looking for one that will not turn the engine off once the door is unlocked. It seems the Toyota and any of the 3rd party remote starts I've looked into turn off the vehicle once the door is open. I would prefer to climb into my nice warm car, put it in drive, and be on my way. Are there companies that make one like that any more? Thanks in advance, Phil
If you’re parked near AC outlets, a couple of alternate things you can do, that actually benefit the engine and mpg, are the block heater, and maybe a small space heater in the cab.
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, I have no garage and park on the street. I'm actually looking for a remote start that I can use at any time; at home, at work, while at the mall, etc.
Thank engine off when a door is unlocked is a safety feature that's gonna be a severe headache to work around. The pre conditioning feature on the key fob also works that way. If you can find an auto start that doesn't shut the engine off when the car is unlocked, it would make a nice addition to this forums wiki.
