Cargo dimensions?

Just to clarify, are you asking for:

A - Width of hatch opening at widest point
B - Width between wheel wells
C - Height of hatch opening
D - Height from upper floor section/folded down rear seats to roof or hatch
E - Depth from hatch to rear seatback
F - Depth from hatch to front seatback(when in typical driving position)


I'm about to head outside to start doing some winter detailing prep on my car, so I'll try to get measurements when I'm coating the rear glass. The particular measurements you seem to be asking for won't be affected by the different floor heights between the LE and LTD.

I can understand your request because when I bought my Prime - sight unseen and no test drive! I couldn’t find cargo dimensions anywhere, only useless cubic feet info.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that it has a flat cargo floor and is well suited to sleeping inside with the addition of some plywood to extend the floor forward. There is lots of shoulder room and length for two people but it’s just a bit snug through the wheel well area.

Here are the cargo dimensions of my 2024 Prime SE:

A - Width of hatch opening at widest point = 34.5”
B - Width between wheel wells = 37”
C - Height of hatch opening = 19” approximately
D - Height from upper floor section/folded down rear seats to roof or hatch = 22.5”
E - Depth from hatch to rear seatback = 32”

F - Depth to front edge of folded rear seat back = 57”

F2 - Depth to rear seat back with seat in normal driving position = 5’ - 9” (I am 5’ - 7” with 31” inseam)

Also Depth to rear seat back with seat fully forward and folded forward = 6’ - 6” !!!

And maximum width inside rear door panels = 54”

 

The non-prime is, I believe, a little bit deeper for the trunk floor by a couple inches. I have a prime though, so I can't tell you what the measurement is there.

 

The sheet metal on the HEV is a few inches lower than the PHEV. The actual cargo floors on the XLE and LTD are the same height as the PHEVs, so there's no real difference in cargo space. The only model that has a lower cargo floor is the LE. The LE trades underfloor storage space and an even cargo floor for more general cargo space in the rear compartment.

Which is best? Depends on the use case. If cargo height is your main concern, then the LE is best. If a flat floor(and the possibility of a spare tire) is more important to you, then the XLE/LTD is the better choice. On the positive side, an owner can convert between the low and high floors in the HEV if they wish(maybe $500ish). As for the PHEV, there's only the one choice there.

 

Sorry, I don't have the dimensions handy, but I did a very foolish thing, which I believe many have done: I bought a Gen 5 Prime SE sight unseen, based on reviews only. No dealer in my area had one to touch and feel, let alone drive. If you're worried about the size of the trunk, then this vehicle is not for you: the trunk is ridiculously small for a practical vehicle; I think it's on par with a Mazda MX-5 Miata's or possibly a Ferrari or other super-cars that don't have to carry more than a wallet. A Costco cooler bag won't be able to stand in it...
