i just don't know how well a small 30k ev will sell, even if it is roomier than most cars that size on the outside

I'd buy one in a heartbeat if the price were right and it had an acceptable battery size.
It would be a fairly great supplement for my home generator.

I don't either. However, I suspect there are a lot of people that would like a smaller, bare bones EV that still had a decent amount of range (150-200 miles).

We have a big problem of huge vehicles in the USA when they aren't needed. And that is going to hit us in the face at some point. I don't know when, but it will happen.

Unfortunately, this won't be bare bones with the equipment and connections that are now standard on cars these days.

An empty nester, it is just me and the dogs. What attracts me:
    • 50% parts reduction - not just the doors but other body structures. Steer by wire means the suspension can be stronger, more responsive, and simpler.
    • crash lesson's learned - safest possible vehicle
    • excellent aerodynamics - should be very efficient on the highway as well as around town.
    • Full Self Driving - HW 4.x and the version downloaded two days ago worked almost perfectly on a 3 hour trip to Etowah Public Shooting Range.
      • Hands free from middle of driveway to entrances of rural parking area and restaurants.
      • Mostly adding speed on the road, two manual brake events, and two mystery 'phantom slow downs.'
So I'm looking forward to the Model 2 but won't be jumping on it for at least 6-12 months. This givens Tesla time to polish off the infantile problems. Has no one noticed it the perfect shell for the next generation roadster?

Just read another article on Bill Gates with his huge short position on Tesla stock, even as its price now goes hurtling through the roof.
I don't know why it makes me smile

Bill Gates Could Go Bankrupt If Tesla Stock Surges 200% To Become The Top Company, Says Elon Musk

    Go large or go home?
Perhaps it makes some folks smile because Gates likes to paint himself as some kind of environmentalist hero (much of his billions stemming from crushing other companies). Yet he hopes to sink a company known for solar, battery energy storage, electric cars etc.
    Oh the irony.

Here in the south i see many single guys driving around in their F250 4x4 just to transport themselves. Most of them never haul anything more than groceries, perhaps.

given the size of the top selling non truck vehicles in the us, idk if going small will be a hit, but i do realize we're only a part of the world market

I used to work in the ‘white Collar Hollow’ and was always disgusted with pristine paint and unscratched tow ball pickup trucks.

But boy do I see those trucks piling up on both the new and used car lots around me. Must be the prices. Those who want one and can afford one are not in inexhaustible supply.

I don't think they will be a hit until we impose a carbon fee & dividend plan.
I would settle for 'enough sales to make it worthwhile to offer'.

When i picked up my new Camry in the DC area, they had a low supply of new vehicles but there appeared to be quite a few Tacomas & Tundras on the lot.

Hard to imagine being that they're such a bargain.

After sales tax, registration, floor mats, dealer prep/delivery charges? What's sad about paying $90,000+ compared to knowing you sent the stealership sales Critter's kids to the local University

I have a GM, Toyota, Ford, Nissan dealers row so it isn't just one brand. And lots of used car dealers too, some associated with dealers, some not.

Tuition in the school of hard knocks. I had a windfall come in so I put it back into TSLA planned for a short term bump. Then this happened:
    Musk_nonsense.jpg
    • Blue circles - windfall cash into TSLA stock
    • Red talk bubble - Musk tweets to shutdown our government
    • Green circle - got out with windfall
I got out of TSLA because I knew Elon was distracted from Tesla by Twitter/X and Trump. Regardless, I was hoping to wait to mid January and get better return than a saving account. I didn't realize how fast he could screw it up. Now, I would rather go to a casino where I know the odds.

you may have been right earlier, when you said musk would wear out his welcome
