Hello! I have a corroded USB port ....does not reliably charge phone. Need new one. Just got quote from Toyota: $300 . They say the part cost in two hundred and change. Skeptical. Any idea where I can get a USB port for center console?? Any help appreciated. Would love to call early tomorrow and cancel service install. Thanks!
I'm not sure how it is on your model, but in our car the dashboard USB port is just a dumb extension cord that goes about 2 feet over to the back of the head unit. You can get a replacement cable from Toyota parts for... well maybe not cheap, but way less than $300. Installing it (in our model Prius) would take about 30 minutes. If you only care about charging you can get the neighborhood stereo shop to install a nice modern high-amp USB port for well under $300.
