ID TPMS sensor

    Hello, is there an way to identify which TPMS sensor sets a code without expensive equipment? The code is C2121-Transmitter ID 1 not received. Thank you!

    You have to have a reader, I used to use Toyota Techstream on a PC which we used to be able to get cheaply. Then you have to do something like let a little air out of each tire to figure out which tires are responding. These days I use an Autel TPMS reader.

    Thank you for that, I was able to identify the sensor via your suggestion using the Carista app- the app also allows for programming the new sensor easily by just entering the new sensor ID, the sensor seems to get activated once the car is i motion!

    The trouble code, or even blink code, by itself tells you whether the issue is with ID1, ID2, ID3, or ID4. Which is all well and good, but doesn't tell you a thing about which tire to look at.

    Now, if you have an OBD-II scan tool like Techstream, you can see the actual transmitter IDs (look something like 54337EE or whatever) in each of those four slots. So now you know the actual ID of the transmitter in question. Which is awesome but still doesn't tell you which tire to look at.

    Those ID numbers are printed on the transmitters themselves, where you can't read them once they're installed in the tires.

    Pretty much any tire shop has a wand they can wave over your tires and show you which transmitter ID is in which one, without having to take the tires off. That makes it easy.

    Otherwise, if you write down all four IDs when having new tires put on, and you write down which corner of the car each one was put on, and you make sure to update that list every time your tires are rotated, you can get by without a special wand and still be able to tell which tire is involved when you get a code.

    For keeping track of the ID's, tape a label inside each rim.

    When you have Techstream (or Autel, or...), to determine who's who, bleed air out of the tires, one at a time.
