Not sure if you're familiar with rally racing, but snow tires are usually specced narrower with smaller wheels for snow/ice stages.

Hello Marcilla did you ever get clarity on the max tire size for them not hitting the spring perch. I want to run 215/75/15 with a 1.5 lift and are curios to the issues i will have.

wait... really? My Crown Victoria P71 was lifted for Police Interceptor service, and gets better mileage on the highway because of that.

I never got to the point of testing due to a Blazer totaling my Gen 2 :(

Technically, my next set turned out to be Falken Wildpeaks when I switched to a 2007 HiHy-Prius, albeit a Gen 3... at which time I finally fulfilled - some 5-6 years later, now - the dream of mounting the General Grabber P205/75R15's! And I do think they made it easier on these hurricane-flooded paths I came across recently:

Ok, but now the real question - and maybe I should take this to another thread: now that I've decided to ditch the Gen 3 and return to a Gen 2, will my Gen 3 wheels fit the Gen 2, or do I need to remount the tires on the Gen 2 rims?

EDIT: Found the answer for anyone who comes across this - basically, it's a "yes," and for more, see here: Will gen 3 wheels fit on gen 2? | PriusChat

only.. I'm putting Subi wheels on my Gen 2 in 17" and since I've got the subframe spacers installed, I plan on seeing just how much meat I can stuff in there.

Best wishes on that! I enjoyed the Falkens, but they aren't available in the size I was looking for. For rougher terrain, I prefer more rubber and less wheel, in case I need to air down.

As for the Subie wheels, some use the same bolt pattern, I know, but what about the axle size? For safety, I wouldn't want the lugs carrying the weight of the vehicle.

In any event, I would think the front spring perches impose a hard limit on diameter. Do the subframe spacers increase this limit somehow?

In any event, best wishes, and I look forward to seeing the results!

    Many thanks.

Just wanted to add to this. When you get bigger around tires, the mileage doesn't go down as much as it seems. The bigger around tire spins less so the car doesn't seem like it went as far as it did. So it's getting better gas mileage than it shows.
