Time compression and longer-scale thinking perhaps?
-something for which humans are suboptimal equipped....presently.

    I'm reminded of Napoleon:

He had a 'thing' for trees.
HE understood the wisdom of planting a tree whose shade one might never enjoy......

    Ponder the question....

Which had more effect on the climate: SpaceX or EVs in total?

Humans are evolved for the gravity on earth, among other things. Humans are not exempt from extinction.

Very true. Even a 6 month stint in the space station, and there's significant ramifications.

Mess up your nest and move to another? Doesn't seem responsible, nor sustainable. Not to mention practical.

I don't see how ICEVs or EVs are that much of a hassle one over the other. Just as long as I can get to the next fuel station or charging station (whichever applies to the vehicle) I'm perfectly happy. I don't mind wait times. I did road trips in the Leaf. As long as an EV makes it to the next charging station, I don't care if I'm there for a few hours, it just need to make it.

People seem to polarize over the quirks of technology. Android or iOS? Windows, MacOS, Linux or ChromeOS? ARM, x85 or RISC V? Ford or Chevy or Dodge? Utilitarian vehicle or... um... Let's see here, there must be some sort of alternative to utilitarian styled vehicles... Ah! or a non-Cross Corolla!

My question is: Which is better for me, my family and my planet? And if I want it to be fun it better be a stick shift, otherwise it's just a get-me-where-I-need-to-go tool.

I don't see abandoning Earth even remotely possible. It's like abandoning land to search for a way to make dryer shelter and richer pastures and luscious-er orchards at the bottom of the sea.
