All, looking for guidance and help. I have a 2006 Prius that my daughter drives. A few months ago the touch screen stopped working and I have struggled to find a replacement Display that works. I don't want to go to the dealer as I am told it can cost me over $2K. I have also looked at eBay and in one case, I had to return it because it didn't fully function. Another option in my head was.. What if I to buy her a Apple Play monitor and replace the existing one with it? Is that an option?

    Thank you in advance.

Does her car have backup camera? If so you need to get the MFD that this part is called. From something above a base a base is a car with no backup camera and almost no options You should be able to find that in your area of the country I didn't look at your signature most people don't put it in there now so I've stopped looking here in the southeast where I live these are plentiful so if you go and pull one off of a car and you plug it into your vehicle and it doesn't work You might be needing to look at the vehicle the plugs that you own usually these things aren't sitting in cars and junk yards dead they can be I grant you that but most of the times no every time I pull one of these out of a junkyard the main thing that's wrong with them if there's anything wrong with it is the screen is delaminating The plastic digitizers peeling off or whatever they call that piece But the thing still works I can still see it it's just touching it as wonky. They usually give me those and I strip them for parts and send those parts to places like Greece no kidding so that shouldn't be an issue paying $300 for one on eBay that's a no-no I mean unless you just don't care places like LKQ which is a junkyard and towing lots you get them for 50 bucks something like that You got to realize it's a 20-year-old car now and no they're not all broken than being broken I don't want to say is rare but not really normal delaminating yes

Thank you for your reply. Let me answer some of your questions
    1. Yes, she does have a back up camera.
    2. Yes, I almost purchased on on eBAY for $250.
    3. I live in Virginia, USA
Are you saying I should go find a junkyard and see if there is a MFD available for me to use?
Am I able to just purchase the plastic digitizers somewhere? This way I can at least test out if its just the touch screen gone bad or the whole unit?
Should I just contact a local junkyard and ask?

Thanks again and appreciate your response.

Yes you're right up the street from me I'm almost in the Virginia line there are junk yards all over your state You should contact them kind of act like you sound like you know what you're doing so you don't get taken for a ride If I call them they'll sell them to me for $50.60 bucks all day long they have no market for these things You're in the southeast USA everybody around you is trying to drive a $30,000 car payment so there's not a lot of interest in generation 2 Prius parts per se The digitizer as I understand it is the plastic part that allows you to touch the screen and turn on the heat or whatever it is you're doing on the MFD The screen the part that goes blank and dies is behind the digitizer A lot of the cars in the southeast that have been sitting in the sun and parking lots while people are working their nice person off at their jobs the digitizer gets damaged from the UV rays of the Sun and wants to peel off the display but the display still works you just can't touch it and turn on the heat now you have to do it from the steering wheel because the digitizer is peeled off but the screen is still working You have the opposite problem your digitizer seems to be fine you're not talking about anything peeling You can't see the screen like an LED TV hanging on the wall in the sounds playing but you can't see the picture to me that would be a screen problem or the output to the screen from the board problem not a digitizer problem You don't have anything to see to touch and push to turn on anything you can't see anything so it's a little deeper than the digitizer so yeah it sounds like you're not an electronics guy per se and you're probably not interested in taking apart an MFD into the seven parts that it is or what have you so you might want to just call around the LKQ you can even look on their website and see the cars they have three four five generation twos probably no problem I know Durham and Greensboro North Carolina have several I would not even entertain 250 on ebay unless I was searching down the seven button GPS MFD which is not even in this discussion they're worth about $400 to some people. The four button like you have are a dime a dozen I would pay $250 for a brand new one in a box new old stock from somebody that just had it sitting in their warehouse or something but used off a car less than a hundred
