I have a Japanese RHD import into UK market. It is a base model with no fog lights. I was driving in heavy fog recently, the front lights were just about OK but I was very concerned about not having a rear fog light.

I believe it should be possible to replace one of the reverse bulbs with a red bulb but I am not sure how to adjust the wiring. I don't mind doing things myself when possible - I usually follow a YT video but I cannot find anything to follow for doing this.

Does anyone know of a video or can give me very basic instructions on how to do this job?

So I guess the deal is that bulb that you're going to put red into the other reverse light will be a lot brighter than the tail lights Is that the presumption? I've never seen this setup but I've seen the picture of it and what makes the fog light that's now in the reverse light come on in that car is there a switch for fog lights? Or is there supposed to be I guess is my question I don't have the schematic for this model

It's a thing in Europe, so you don't get rear-ended in heavy fog, especially if you are pulled off to the side of the road.

I was in Germany, twice. NEVER saw a REAR fog light.
I know they have a PARKING light. A rear fog light would blind drivers
    behind you.

I think it's red not white . Turned on in fog . So in the States you would see every kid riding around with this thing turned on 24/7 in Europe not so much just different types of folks even hooligan children wouldn't be running the fog light in non-fog conditions as a prank or to be cool just isn't how it works like here in the States kids want to ride around until 11:00 at night with no lights on that's cool they want to lie down in their car like they're sleeping in their bed but driving that's cool until something happens then it's negligent and everybody's up your rear end about it because you're not so cool You're like an asshat so there's always that in the United States to some it's cool to be an asshat so there's always that notice today an accident is no longer an accident for the most part It's just something people do to be kind of cool or something really weird.

As stated above, rear foglights are red. They don't blind anyone, they're there to make your car more visible in foggy conditions. Screenshot_20241115_102735_DuckDuckGo.jpg

And this is switched by operator. Correct. Can be turned off?

99% of cars in Europe have front and rear fog lights. The Prius, which I love dearly, is the only car of the many I have owned that does not have them and I feel very vulnerable driving in thick fog without them, especially the rear one.
The vast majority of drivers use them properly, some forget to turn them off once the fog has lifted and some forget to turn them on.

Well then you'll come up with a way to make it happen on your car You're using one of the reverse lights for this so it would seem to me you could just take the one reverse light out of service somehow get a red lens on it and a brighter bulb in it and some sort of a switch to rig up Heck by now you can probably get a wireless socket or wirelessly switched socket with the remote that you can just hit a button from up in the cockpit and it'll turn on that red lamp assembly that you just fitted to the reverse light so it'll be a 7443 LED in red and like I say you may be able to get it with a remote so you don't have to wire up a switch I would hate to have to run a wire all the way back to the back of the car that I could get at from the driver seat just for fog but hey you got to do what you got to do.
