I'll be putting as much solar on the roof of our motorhome as possible, maybe even ad slide-out ones for when we are camped up. Maybe we could make a few $$ recharging EVs

Around these parts, service stations were going up in ridiculous places where there was never going to be the passing trade to keep them viable ..... but none of them see to be completed ...... I think they were just blocking out potential cluster shops where the EV charging point supplied trade for a restaurant, a coffee shop, a gift shop and maybe even a food and hardware type supermarket ..... exactly the way things went when the first petrol stations appeared in a town.

The fuel industry over here is desperate to stop electric charging highways to form, so the B/S about range anxiety can continue to be pushed in an attempt to not become a fossil industry .... they have an enormous amount of infrastructure that will become worthless once the general public are n longer reliant on them .....

All those who complain about training for a job they never get, what about a charging station repair technician, an ever growing field that isn't going to be phased out anytime soon.

technical training in the us (other than computer) is looked down upon and only acceptable for immigrants.
we have far too may college grads of medium intelligence who refuse to get their hands dirty, and are tossed by the whims of corporate layoffs because they are completely expendable

Change that from the USA to the world ........ even India is having second thoughts about the whole privileged race v "the others" when it comes to training and upper positions .... the cry of "I won't train/work with these people" has become an easy out for management that is non Indian rather than leverage to keep the lower classes under foot. As a result, India might become that "World dominating technical centre" that China currently threatens and possibly actually is ...... they have an aging and shrinking population, India does not .........

I think the issue with shell is incompetence or a strategic focus on expansion at the cost of maintenance, not necessarily maliciousness. Though their conflict of interest may reduce their motivation to spend the effort and money to fix their incompetence. Recently I found out that one of the plugs that wasn’t working actually was working. The shell branding on the former Volta stations says to use the shell recharge app. However the shell recharge app doesn’t have any of my local former Volta stations on it. Most of the functioning stations at this location just allow you to plug in and start charging like how it was when it was Volta. There have been a few stations that are just not working. There are two plugs that are often working, but you can only get them to work by finding them on the shell app (not the shell recharge app like it says on the station) and pressing “pay” button even though it doesn’t actually charge you. The plugs next to them are not on the app and you can just plug in when they are working.

Shell has been in alternative energy and fuels for a couple decades now. This includes solar, wind, and batteries.

I don't see them hindering EVs on purpose, and other charger networks have had issues.
