I know 12v battery drain has been discussed repeatedly - My 2010 has chewed through batteries routinely draining them after 2 years -- Any chance the dealer installed Toyota VIP RS3200Plus is causing this?

I have been told I don't drive frequently or long enough to keep it charged, but I have been driving it regularly and it still drained again after only 2 years. I have long suspected a parasitic draw but never investigated and forgot to ask my mechanic to check when he replaced it this time.

If I want to check the draw on the 12v, can I do it from under the hood, or do I need to do it at the battery in the back???

To check phantom draw you need to put an ammeter in series between the negative battery post and ground. Wire it up in such a way that you can snake the wires out the hatch threshold, close the hatch fully, wait about half an hour (fobs well away), then hook up your ammeter. Set to amps first, just in case, then the high milliamps. Unless it's auto-ranging. In my experience, was seeing 20 milliamps, with regular spikes to around 40. The latter maybe due to the secuirty icon blinking on the dash, but not sure it was syncronized.

Are you garage parked with AC outlets? If so consider a smart charger, one you can leave on all the time.

    Google shows me:

The VIP RS3200 Plus is a complete vehicle security system with an alarm and glass breakage sensor for vehicles equipped with keyless entry. The alarm is immediately activated if the glass is broken or if forced entry of a side door (or rear hatchback) is attempted. Did you have this issue before it was installed? If not, then that would be a clue.
If the battery wasn't FULLY charged before/after installation, that also could be an issue.
The inverter charges very slowly. You'll need to drive for about 3 hours before the
battery would have a good charge.
Invest in a 5amp or less agm charger and charge the battery for at least 8 hours.
That will give it a full charge. This is a good start.
Then you need to monitor the 12v battery. You can purchase a gauge that fits into
one of the spare spots that will show the battery voltage. The one I have is about
.15 volts low. So it's close enough to keep and eye on and know if the battery
    is getting low.
It should read 14.1 volts when the car is on because that's what the inverter puts out.
When the battery is charged, it will read about 13.7, more or less. At least that is
    what mine shows.
You should also check for the dome lights being on.

You can charge it from the fuse box under the hood. It's best at the battery.
You might have to charge the battery once a month or so until you find the issue.
