TL;DR This price is too high, right?

I took my 2011 Prius to a neighborhood garage for back break replacement. While the rotors were last done in 6/2023, the mechanic stated I needed new rotors, pads, and "caliper service". He said he'd have the car back to me yesterday evening.

I got a call yesterday evening that one of the calipers cannot be preserved and is leaking fluid. He said they usually replace them in pairs and the total cost for back break pads, rotors, and calipers would be $900.

    Too high, right?

Bunch of dumb crap generally speaking right they're. But you're in rust bucket conn.so it possible . But not likely. This is wer corner shops make they're money brake and radiator and AC heat service . Simple jobs that desk jockeys have no clothes for and mom won't clean them in that 3800$ washtower. So to corner garage it goes.

But that's probably retail in you're area . This is about 40 min a side with a Walmart jack and basic walmart tools you will use over n over again so. You're dealing with about 150 in parts or so . So you have to tell me.. maybe 250 at most in parts .

How many miles on the car?
Do you mean the REAR rotors where replaced? If that's true, you shouldn't need
rotors. Ask to SEE the leaking caliper. The SAFE thing to do is to replace BOTH
calipers at the same time, like rotors.
Is this "person" a Prius mechanic/tech? Without knowing the mileage, or seeing the caliper,
hard to say if it's leaking or not.
Are they Toyota calipers/rotors/pads? You need to see the breakdown of the parts and prices
for each and labor. $900 seems to be twice what it should be.
