I did a quick search on this but didn't find anything, I'm sure theres at least one thread out there on this though. Is there any way to disable to safety features built into the Nav system and phone screen.. etc...? I understand its importance but it sure whould be nice to at least be able to dial the phone with the MFD while the car is rolling. Thanks...
There are several posts dealing with this issue. On the 2006 & 2007 models it comes down to cutting the motion sensing wire and installing an override switch. Tom
 So many seem to want to disable "safety features" these days. Reminds me of the loud cries resulting from enactment of laws regarding seat belts back in the '50s. While there's no way to completely eliminate injuries and accidents, safety items such as safety glass, seat belts, ABS brakes, laws regarding helments for motorcycle riders, etc. have saved many lives. Inconveniences such as disabling telephone dialing, entry of navigation system commands are designed to protect us from ourselves. I suppose it's the mind set that "It won't happen to ME" - but it does happen.

I just have to get used to using the voice function on the navigation system. I had a Mazda 3 with Nav for 3 years and was able to manipulate anyting I wanted to in the nav system on the fly, just used to that I guess. I'll adapt to the new gear soon enough. Thanks.

I think most people want to disable those features so the passenger can access the controls, although of course I agree that NO driver should be trying to type in an address while driving!
