Would it also be possible to go to the LE's 17" wheels and tires?

Has anyone tried the 195/60R17 from the LE on the AWD XLE? I just blew a tire today and the wait time for a new one is about 30 days! I asked the dealership about doing this switch, but they don't have any experience with the new Prius and don't know if it'll clear the brake calipers. I've read through a ton of these posts and TBH, I'm still a bit confused about what will work and what won't work.

    It's Hubspace!

I think 215/50R18 would be fine too!
There are so many different options..

I tried looking up the parts on Lakeland Toyota's website (Authentic Toyota Parts | Toyota Parts Overstock (lakelandtoyota.com)). It looks like the 17" wheel (P/N 42611-47651, there's also a 42611-47701. I don't know what the difference is), and according to their fitment guide these fit all of the 2023 Prius models.

You may want to look up things like the dust covers, calipers, caliper brackets, disks... too. Those wheels are $390 each, which I'm imagining will take Toyota a while to get to you as well. Those seem to be common between a few models of Prius and Corolla. It would take quite a bit of research to see what's compatible with what and build a matrix of what cars you could look at. I doubt if the Toyota dealer is going to be that much help, but it might also lead you to some compatible salvage parts (say from a 2020 Prime, which would get you a 15" wheel).

The big reason I suggest the 17" tires (and wheels) from the 2023 LE would be that the wheel offset, and outside diameter are the same. I had a bad experience with my first car, installing aftermarket wheels. The offset wasn't quite compatible with the car, and every speed bump I hit would scrape the sidewall on the wheel well. If Toyota has a Prius wheel that fits, that's what I'd go with.

Just to be thorough here, (and hoping not insulting), this would require you to buy the 17" wheels as well as the tires because you can't put a 17" tire on a 19" wheel.

Hello Xov'ze how are things longer term with those Tesla wheels and tires? Any detriment to mpg or any driving issues? Thanks!

No issues to report! It’s a little hard to say what the effect of the wheels were on mpg because I’ve done a few other mods (TRD front spoiler, custom side skirts, bc racing coilovers), but I’m pretty sure the wheels had a completely negligible effect overall.

Which lug nuts did you use? Like these in the attached picture? Thanks.

Those look to be the same dimensions as the lugs I’m using.

I’m not an expert, so do this at your own risk ofc, but the biggest concern for me choosing lugs was finding a set of M12x1.5 that had a wide enough seat for the tesla wheels. .9” (23mm) max diameter has worked out okay for me, but only because I haven’t found anything larger for the thread size.

If the conical mating area of the replacement lug nuts are same as that of the OEM i.e fit into the wheel holes fully not partially and threaded length engagement of the new lugs with the bolts are same then should be good right? Is is just the blue area interfacing or also the area marked with red? Additionally, with regards to the curb weight, the Prius 5th gen is around 300lb lighter overall than the Model 3 comparing heaviest Prius version with lightest Model 3. Acknowlege it isn't that simple but just my thoughts. Thanks.

Only the blue area interfaces, but the bolt holes in the tesla wheels are wider to accommodate the oem M14x1.5 bolts/nuts, so the central part of the M12x1.5 bolts sits inside the hole instead of mating with the conical surface. With a .9” max diameter, only the outer half of the mating surface makes contact with the wheel. I haven’t had a lug fail on me yet, but it’s definitely not an ideal setup

When I get off of work I’ll take a picture of the wear on the nuts so you can see.

Xov'ze I may have found your answer (unless you are aware of these boards already)

    https://www.civicx.com/forum/threads/tesla-wheels-fit.45740/

    and especially this one...

Tesla Model 3 Aero wheels installed | Acura TSX Forum

I did get a set of the aero wheels with tires and covers for a super low price. Have ordered these from Amazon

(not sure if they need to be open ended)
    J2 Lug Nuts 20 Pcs Set (Aluminum, Black, Close End Acorn Tuner, M12 x 1.50, 25MM Diameter/35MM Height)+Adapter

Incidentally the 2025 Camry SE has 235/45R18 tires as well albeit on an 8 inch rim.

Did you get the wider lug nuts? I have not yet done the swap although I have everything ready to go (did a swap to the 17" stock wheels in the meantime)

I did in fact! They have a noticeably wider mating surface than the other lugs I was using, definitely much better for my peace of mind

I did also get a set of hub-centric rings, though I’m unsure how much they’re actually doing considering the conical lug seats probably center the wheels just fine. A set is dirt cheap, so better safe than sorry ‍♀️

It's always advisable to use hubcentric rings to ensure that the wheel is perfectly centered on the hub.

I've got a set of Tesla 3 rims/tires in the garage right now, and I've learned quick, with the 235/4R18 stock tire size, you've got to lay them down or stack the them very carefully; the rubber and the rim both make contact at about the same time.

I have two of these racks in my garage, they work really well at storing wheels and rims out of the way.
