I can't afford anything but an EV or 75-100 mi EV mode, PHEV around town.

The Camry (some costing $40K+) is the number one selling car for Toyota that Tesla's model Y passed in sales. Not the corolla

Do you mean in the USA? I thought the Corolla was the number one selling car worldwide.

At any rate, the Model 3 and Model Y are close to the same price as a Camry in my state with the $7,500 federal incentive and the $5,350 Colorado state incentive. These EVs would also be the type of EV I could get around in, seeing how one route I take often is 97 miles from my home to the next charging station of any kind, over mountain passes, many times covered in snow and sub-zero temperatures.

Personally, though, I'm the kind of guy that if I bought a new car right now about all I could afford would be the Nissan Versa. Finding an EV, even a used EV, that's cheap enough and goes far enough is not easy, and perhaps impossible. Then again, ICEV prices aren't all that great either.

I hope the Bolt comes back soon. I personally dislike SUVs and crossovers, but I'd buy a new Bolt over an ICE econo sedan like a new Nissan Versa or new Toyota Corolla if the price is close enough. Actually the Versa will probably be no longer available by the time the Bolt comes out.

And meanwhile GM actually verified they are bringing back the Volt after seeing the popularity of prime variants.

Sadly they will be calling an Equinox a Volt but beggars can’t be choosers when it comes to mid range EREVs

I’m happy many are adopting ev’s, whatever make, fits with the green deal, and more and cheaper gas for everyone else. Win win situation. Keep evs going. I saw a bus that drives over a circle in the pavement, charging the bus.

you should be getting plenty of cheap gas soon, and that should encourage more land barge purchases

I hate land barges, land yachts and land mother ships.

Please! Will someone come out with a small affordable EV sedan please! I don't need an anti-aerodynamic pedestrian crusher.

I myself need very little because I have a Prime. Maybe the post office can save money soon. Land barges are still dominant in any shopping center parking lot, and they never have been this bulky.

Oh god no, that will delay the post office from getting any new vehicles for over a year since everything is geared up for EV.

Due to broken reciprocity agreements that don’t take the trade imbalance into account
China gets to send packages for free into the US, that is one of the main big losers for the post office

What's wrong with not buying new vehicles for the next year for the post office? Are the ones they have in need of replacing?

& thus - even for cost, many choose DHL, ups, Amazon Air FedEx Etc.

Those little Grumman trucks, no ac, no airbags, have been running around since 1986/87ish. I'm sure politics have a lot to do with what vehicles are purchased, rather than what's best.

have you ever seen how they abuse their vehicles? they make amazon drivers look like little old ladies.

Safety would be nice. If A/C didn't help aerodynamics by keeping the windows closed I'd say it's overrated.

There's a neighbor lady who drives her own minivan for postal delivery. She drives like a maniac, flying through the neighborhood at scary speeds. She's even slid off the street and got stuck on a couple of big rocks in front of my house, yet still drives just as fast.

The postmaster general is an appointee of the last admin, so maybe political, but really not going to be.

corola had the title for the world. Tesla model Y beat it world wide in 2023. Camry was best selling toyota car in the US, The best selling toyota in the US in 2023 was the Rav4 at #4. The model Y was next at #5. Those two were only beat in the US by 3 full size pick up trucks - 1) F-series, 2) Silverado, 3) Ram Pick Up

Data is often rearranged to try and make an individual's point.

Facts are somewhat harder to rearrange

Of course EVs won't be on a list that gives the ICE models 40, 50, 60 years of sales data added to the total.

The Corolla had been number one in global annual sales for years. This year it is a Tesla.
