I am going to replace a damaged rear passenger door on my Prius 4. I don’t expect a base Prius to have two speakers in the door and I wonder if the harness would be there for that second speaker. Anyone have a clue? Anyone ever disconnect the harness in the B pillar? Finally in the interest of facilitating door alignment… leave the hinge on my car or take it from the junkyard car?
The hinge has BOLTS. IOW, It's not going to matter much unless your original door was damaged in a horrible collision - in which case the rest of the car would be totaled and it wouldn't much matter. If you want to be sure? Use the 'new' hinges. They're already attached to the 'new' door.
Get the junkyard door hinges, but try with yours first. I’d be inclined to not break the connection on the painted-over side, where the hinge bolts to body.
One of the stipulations is that I provide my damaged door to seal back up the donor car so I won't have a hinge on my car and another on the donor door. I think this is more a garage than a junkyard. I was thinking that there must be some adjustment to the doors at the hinge, and if it is only on one side of the hinge, I want to avoid messing with that. I trust Toyota made doors are pretty much 100% the same and I don't want to avoid fine tuning, unless I have to. If the car is painted with the hinges on body and the door has paint under the hinge, then that makes the choice easier. My hinges should be functionally good. minor damage to lower door skin.
I found a youtube video online where a door panel was taken off a 2014 prius. There was no second speaker in the panel but i did see the connector in the harness. The X shows where the speaker would have been located and the other circle is the harness connector for the speaker
