Dodgers vs. Yankees, first game goes to Dodgers on the final pitch: Neither S. Ohtani nor A. Judge shone brightly this time. Game 2 in 20 hrs.
This will be a very widely watched Series. I'm inclined to guess that Dodgers are just a bit tapped out and might not win #2. But a one-sided Series would be less of a watch eh? Would like to see Ohtani and Judge wake up. So would they, I suppose, and a few million viewers. The trick on this side of world is to find an internet station that provides narration. ESPN gamecast is a bit dry.
Dodgers and Yankees are 2 and 3 among baseball's high-budget teams. Have not looked up #1, but they did not buy as much happiness this year. So there are some non linearities.
it depends on how player contracts are written. 73139425007 win now, may be more costly in the future
One of my guilty pleasures is listening to left coast podcasts - so I hear a lot of 'Boyz in blue' talk. If I were a baseball fan at all I might even root for them.
I lost the reason to watch baseball after 2004. All the drug scandals following it made me lose interest in the sports all together. Haven't followed MLB (or any other sports) ever since.
Dodgers win and lead 2 to 0 games. Next 3 will be played in NY where renowned Yankee pitching staff may do what they are famous for.
1994. MLB went on 'strike.' They did it before '94 of course....but I was too young then to understand MLB's distain for their customers. Good Luck guys. Maybe some day I will be that wide-eyed fan I used to be (*).... (*) Like.....when they're sprinkling rock salt on the sidewalks down where HELL has frozen over.
Game 3 underway in NY. Dodgers lead 2-0 on F. Freeman's work (again). If Yankees lose this one, pressure on them will increase a lot.
Thanks for reminding me. It wasn't in the US news wrap-up when I awoke this morning. 3-0 Doyers!!! Good Job boyz. What a shame. A 4-2 score in a Doyers-Yankees World Series (*) game might be interesting during a non-leap-year. NOW I can keep up with the water-cooler baseball discussions!!!! Um...if there were still water coolers. Or.....baseball discussions.
Janquis winning 4 straight starting now would be a thing not happened before in hardball. Are there other sports with best of seven finals where it has happened?
Morning Doc! (Afternoon, for you.) Glad you're enjoying the series, and I sincerely appreciate the reminder to look up the score in case I encounter a(n obvoiusly US) baseball fan. Well......Let's see. Juego de Pelota? I may need a little course correction on this one as I just used the Googles. An alleged game perhaps played "back in the day" a little south of the US. Thought to be one of the world's oldest team sports. The game was played with a solid (HARD!!!) rubber ball, and may or may NOT have involved human sacrifice. All of this is a little above me, obviously and $cience has not yet determined if they ever went for a "best of seven." If the rumors are true about the cost of being a 'loosah' are correct - they would have to have a DEEEEEEP bench to go to 'the series.' Perhaps buzkashi? Not really a 'ball' but goat's heads are pretty hard! ANOTHER game played regionally with aspirations of global dominance Did THEY have the temerity to call their last games of the season a WORLD Series? Don't mean to be a buzz-kill, and If we were back in the 80's, I'd be glued to every game and pulling for the Doyers - even though culturally I identify more closely with New Yawkers. Baseball learned the wrong lesson in 1919!!
Game 4 goes to NY with 11 to 4 score, so Series didn't end today. This has come from NY pitching returning to form, and LA pitching being remarkably bad. One needs froth to keep viewers engaged; there being a lot of commercials to watch. Can NY pull this one out? See tmrw and later if needed. Sword of Damocles hangs daily over NY and that's the fun of it. Dodgers have a reputation for fumbling on 1 yard line, so this Series could not be more attractive.
I lost my innocence back in the 90's but I'm not a conspiracy theorist. BOTH teams are playing to WIN and the boyz in the pinstripes won on the home sod. People who are wondering where NYC's offence has gone to should tread carefully.... They may find out. (yes. it was intentional!)
