24 LE. Just got my dashcam installed today. I need to connect the dashcam to its app to change several settings. The car wifi takes over the wifi connection on my iphone 13 and I can’t connect the dashcam to the phone app. It keeps kicking me off for the cars wifi.

How do I turn off the car wifi so I can connect my dashcam to the app?

I don't know about your 2024, but cars usually connect trough Bluetooth. Kill the Bluetooth connection either on your phone or through the gear icon on the car. That should release controls.

Ended up having to turn the car off so its wifi disconnected from my iphone. Then I was able to turn the car back on and quickly connect the wifi on my phone to the dashcam before the car wifi was able to connect. Made the updates to the dashcam app and disconnected the wifi. Restarted the car and it connected its wifi to my phone automatically. Kinda kludgy way to have to do it but I’ll know for the next time.

You could most likely also turn off the multimedia display and I don't think it'll connect to wifi. I believe it's the one controlling the loading for profiles, android auto/carplay, etc

Just hold down the volume button next to it for 5 seconds or until it shuts off.

Unfortunately that doesn’t disconnect the wifi.

I'm confused. A Prius doesn't use wifi to connect with a phone unless a person pays for the AT&T hotspot plan. The Prius uses bluetooth for Digital Key, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay connections.

    Okay, then did you try:

    >Settings (the gear icon)
    >Wi-Fi
    >Hotspot
    >Toggle the hotspot slider off

Wireless CarPlay uses local Wifi, not Bluetooth. I believe the reason is that Bluetooth does not support a fast enough data connection to support CarPlay, which is why the phone nor the car can connect to a wifi signal when wireless CarPlay is connected. I don’t have an Android so I am not sure if AA is the same, but I assume it would be.

The inital handshake is done via bluetooth - after that it switches to wifi. So if bluetooth is off, carplay will not take over the wifi.
