Hello, My car was open and key fobs were about 4 feet away. I was looking under my car when one of the fobs beeped. Any ideas why this would happen? This is strange to me as all 4 doors were unlocked already. I checked and they stayed unlocked. Only happened once since I locked and unlocked several times today. Needs new battery maybe? Not sure. Thank you.
If you car is on and you step away with the key fob, the car will beep to notify no key is around. Maybe this is what you experienced? I don't believe there's a speaker in the key so it won't beep.
Yes, come to think of it....the beep was from the car but why would it beep if it was already open and the fobs were not touched again after I opened the car using one of them. They were around 3 feet from car on a shelf. I was near the rear of the car looking underneath the passenger side back tire. It just seems strange to hear a beep if the vehicle is open already. I did not touch the door handle at all. Sometimes when I unlock the car using the fob, when I go to open the door I will hear it beep again. I know when the fob is near the car door, I can just put my hand on the door handle I will hear the beep and the door is unlocked. But this was strange.
a good question. do you keep the fobs that close normally? i think the manual says 10-15' away. the manual should have a list of beeps and reasons for them. maybe it is some kind of notification after the door(s) have been open for a time.
Thank you. I am going to look in manual now. But it is bizarre that it happened this time. I have left the fobs there before and I was in the car looking for something and never hear beeps.
I did not have the car on and it happened again on Saturday. I am going to try an leave the key fobs quite a distance away next time and see if that happens again. this is the strangest thing happening as it does not happen in all instances. Just bizarre.
