Honestly, I have not seen the Tideland color in person, but I ordered one. Just know from what I've seen online on photos and such, but since I ordered that color, figured I should see it in person before I ever get it (since it is an eclectic color, apparently). I've seen Silver, Salsa Red, Driftwood, and White, but no Tideland. Even if you don't have one, but know where one can be seen, that'd be helpful. If you have one, if we can get to talking more, work out something where I might see it, wherever you may work or live, or visit, that'd be great. I live in the southwest suburbs of chicago, and work south of the loop in chicago, so if you know you work or live close to either place, even if I visit your Prius while you are in work (unless you don't want outsiders ogling it too much without you there  ), it would be helpful I think this may be the strangest request I have ever made. I'm still not sure what to think about it. Thanks, Matt
I can talk it over with Priapus, but I'm sure he wouldn't mind entertaining a guest for a little while. The only problem is that I'm on the far-northside. If you've planning on heading up this way, send me a Private Message and we'll figure something out.
We are in Ft Wayne...could meet you somewhere in NW Indiana...We have the Tideland #9, just got it a couple weeks ago...more than happy to head up US 30 to let you see it...let me know...Don FWA
sorry, I couldn't let you do that, it's too much to do just for me to see a tideland prius, but thank you!
expanding search I will be in Kansas City this weekend visiting friends, I may have to expand my search to there as well. Did you buy that color sight unseen as well? I do assume you are happy with the color?
Matt, The Tideland was the colour of the first Prius we saw and were really taken with it. Unfortunately were not able to get the grey interior with that so settled on the silver. Our Canadian brochure shows only two choices for a grey interior--- the millennium Silver and the Black.
Same here! We chose silver largely because it came with a grey interior. Since then, we've learned that the tan is easy to clean, but we didn't know this prior to purchase. I heard somewhere that silver is the overwhelming favourite colour among Canadians. I wonder if this has more to do with the interior than the exterior.
Matt, When I tell people that I got a car and they ask about the color, I send them to this photo gallery. You might think that it's not a true representation because they're just pictures online and you're not there live, but I swear [Boy Scout salute] that if you printed any one of these pictures and held it up to my car the color would be true. http://gallery.joesdiner.com/gallery/Prius Check it out.
Are You Near Woodridge? My Salsa isn't here yet, but before ordering I managed to see every color on the streets in Chicagoland. The best location, in which I saw three different colors on three consecutive trips, was the shopping center lot on the southwest corner of 75th and Lemont in Woodridge. Lemont Road is an exit of I-55 (go north) and 75th is an exit of I-355 tollway (go east). Also, I agree the joesdiner pictures are very good. If you are in Chicagoland and were around in the early 60's (I barely was), you may wish to think of Tideland as the color used on the Illinois Bell service trucks (panel vans) of that day.
Okay I've seen those pictures, as well as others, and do like the coloring. I guess I just hoped to see one in person, before I flew all the way to nashville to pick up the one I ordered, and then decided I didn't like the coloring. Of course, Saturday was the first time I drove one, 7 weeks after I ordered it, so hey, maybe if I see the color in the next 7 weeks or so, I'll be right on track... What is it about the Prius that makes people jump at it, without seeing their color or test driving it????? I don't want to inconvenience someone about seeing a tideland prius, so maybe I'll look harder near those spots. I have seen a silver prius a couple of times on Lagrange road in the construction zone (between 83 and archer). I wanted to honk, but I'm still in my decently old car, so someone will probably just think I am crazy. And I saw an Aqua Ice 1g prius one tuesday (Aug 17th I believe) on I-55 between Lagrange and I-294, I was broken down on the left shoulder about 4-5pm then, if someone remembers me ('92 Honda Accord, dark blue.) That's why I'm getting a Prius! (If my car holds up)
Tideland in Chicagoland I have a Tideland that I purchased about two weeks ago from a dealer in North Dakota (long story). You are welcome to come and see it in Downers Grove at anytime. I own a small business on Ogden Avenue. contact me at [email protected]
Found one! I was at the Kansas City airport Saturday morning, Tideland there on the drivearound as I was waiting for friends to pick me up, passed me four times. So I am satisfied now!
