Does it have a genuine Toyota catalytic converter or aftermarket replacement? This is very important as I'm going to need to be able to pass California smog. They require original cat to be in place, so please don't guess if your not sure.
Color Previous owner said it was repainted this blue for his wife. It is red under the blue seen from engine compartment. I'm not a paint professional - seems rediculous to get blue detailed throughout the enigine. See image attached... The top has an alternate colour from a repair where they couldn't match the other. See image... Catalytic Converter The short answer: Unknown. The other answer: The owner before me had it licensed in Portland, OR. So, it would have had to pass DEQ there. I had a cat security shield installed and peeked underneath. Nothing seemed to scream anything other than original. Of course, I am not an cat professional either.
Bump. You may want to list a floor bid since you do not say how much you want for the car. Also consider parting it out or giving it to a charity for the tax break. I'm presuming that a $500 opening bid would be rejected out of hand - so lookers on might be interested in that.....or a follow-up bid. $1000, for example 'might' (would!) be too high for me and too low for you since I would have to have it towed 10 states away and then spend a zillion hours replacing the head gasket and THEN replacing the parts that caused the head gasket to fail. Also - has it hydro-locked yet? That would necessitate a total engine replacement. The way to tell is whether or not it still starts up - but beware that this is a test that you can only do a few times before you can't. The interior presents as normal for a 235K mile, 12 year old car - but what about smoking/pets? Trim level? You may want to take pictures of the wheels/tires since they represent a non-trivial percentage of this car's real-world value. KBB says your car may be worth: BUT(!!!) you're going to want to back out about $2,000 for the engine replacement/repair. Good Luck!
